Rising Stars: Meet Chloe Vela of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Vela

Hi Chloe, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
During my sophomore year of high school, I started baking cookies as a way to earn extra money during COVID. My dad has been a barber for over 20 years, and my mom became a hairstylist when I was about six. After earning her license, she and my dad opened their own shop, which has now been running for more than 13 years.

I launched a social media page for my cookies and gradually expanded my menu. While I learned to bake from my mom and grandma, I credit both of my parents for teaching me the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. In 2022, I added lemonade to my menu, which quickly became my best-selling item, especially during the summer. I sell my lemonades and sweets at paintball tournaments, and through these events, I’ve met incredible people who have become like a second family to me.

After graduating high school last May, I transitioned into running my business full-time as a home baker and lemonade maker. This has allowed me to participate in events across Dallas, working with businesses, schools, and paintball organizations. What I love most is the support and appreciation from the players and staff at the paintball fields—it’s always a great experience.

But above all, my biggest supporters are my family. They ensure everything runs smoothly and help make my business a success. I’m incredibly grateful to them and to God for the opportunities that have come my way. None of this would be possible without them.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been easy, but everyone’s journey is different. I’m grateful that my family has been my biggest motivation and has made the process so much easier. I think many small business owners can relate to those moments of doubt, wondering if all the hard work is worth it. But when someone tells you how much they love your product or that they go out of their way just to support you, all those doubts disappear. It’s a great reminder that even if friends or family don’t always support your business, there will always be people out there who will. What helps the most is knowing that those tough moments are often lessons and reminders of why I do this in the first place. It makes all the hard work, late nights, and challenges worth it. Building something of my own has been an incredible journey, and despite the ups and downs, I wouldn’t change a thing—I’d do it all over again.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is baking cakes with my mom for family events. I especially loved when she made strawberry cake—I was always so excited to watch her, help mix the batter, and frost the cake together. Those moments sparked my love for baking and showed me how food can bring people together. It’s a big reason why I named my business Baked with Love—to create treats that bring back that same feeling of warmth and joy.
