Rising Stars: Meet Chris Schnabel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Schnabel.

Chris Schnabel

Hi Chris, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Hello, I’m Chris Schnabel, originally from New York and now based in Dallas. With over a decade of experience in video production, I have a diverse background that spans sports, music, scripted content, and business videos. My career highlights include working with Minor League Baseball, USL Soccer, prestigious institutions like Gonzaga and Harvard, and professional teams such as the Vegas Golden Knights and even the Boston Red Sox—despite being a die-hard Yankee fan.

Beyond sports, my expertise extends to various media platforms, covering everything from live music events to scripted video projects. If it can be filmed, I’ve likely been behind the camera.

Four years ago, I launched my podcast, “Mad Props,” which features engaging conversations and stories from notable guests like Disney’s Daron Nefcy, civil rights icon Jim Obergefell, and NBA analyst Alan Hahn, among others.

Since relocating to Dallas, I’ve been actively engaging with the local community, lending my video production skills to a range of clients, including bands, sports teams, and businesses, and helping them tell their unique stories.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Every journey has its challenges, and mine has been no exception. Initially, I turned to freelancing when traditional video production roles were hard to come by. This phase not only honed my skills but also allowed me to build the strong, versatile skill set I possess today. This experience has been fundamental in shaping my approach to video production and contributing to my success in the field.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I definitely consider myself a videographer first, but my podcast has grown over the years, and I’m really proud of how we’ve been able to build and grow not only the podcast itself but the audience that follows us. Mad Props has really grown to a place where I can not only present my creativity but hear the fun and insightful stories of others!

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I want to use this spot to shout out some people that helped me build, grow, and succeed. My girlfriend Mary Hutti, Chandler Williams, Joe Brown, Dave Puglisi, Kyle Scott, Josh Reddy, Zach Galia, Dylan Thompson, and most importantly, my parents, Caryn and Rob Schnabel, who have always supported everything I’ve done.
