Rising Stars: Meet Corea Connie of Dallas, TX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corea Connie.

Corea Connie

Hi Corea, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m from a small town called Flint, MI. I had my son in 2018 and always knew I didn’t want to raise him there. I wanted more for him. So I decided to pack up and leave my family and friends behind in 2020 and move across the country to Texas. Best decision I ever made. I started off doing makeup in 2021 to earn money, got more into the skincare side after clients started inquiring about texture on their skin. Decided to go to esthetician school in 2022, graduated in 2024 and here we are now. I own my own business, I teach others & I’m giving my son the best life I can.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been easy. I’ve lost a few jobs, had to change esthetician schools due to allergic reactions at my first school. Most recently I lost my nephew to suicide in Nov 2024. After that I was in a tough situation financially and mentally losing my mind, so I decided to move back home for 6 months to regroup. Then immediately after I moved back home I lost my grandma in Feb 2025. Those 2 deaths turned my entire world upside down. I was in a dark place for a really long time at the beginning of this year.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
So as an esthetician I do; full body waxing, facial treatments and corrective skincare. I also do makeup as well and teach one on ones. My most booked service is my brazillian wax. I believe what sets me apart from others is the fact that I am a girls girl. I’ve created a safe environment for my clients where they don’t feel judged. They feel heard and cared for. Every appointment feels like talking to your bestie.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Some would be surprised to know that this wasn’t my dream job as a child. I wanted to be a nurse. I went to college after graduating high school to be a nurse but soon found out it wasn’t for me. I love taking care of people but doing it that way wasn’t for me. What I do now, I feel like I take care of my clients in my own way. I take care of their self esteem, their confidence, their mood and how they feel mentally some days.
