Hi Craig, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Craig “Dr.Real ” Watson. I have been providing advice to friends and family since I was a young boy. My great-grandmother instilled so much wisdom in me as a child that it would’ve been disrespectful not to share it. Dr. Real was born in 2010 out of tragedy and depression. 2010 was the worst year of my existence. I got in a rollover accident in January. My wife asked for a divorce in March. One day, I was sitting in my one-bedroom, sad-ass divorced dad apartment when I broke down from the weight of it all. I asked God to make me into the man he created me to be. It was at that moment He gave me an epiphany and Dr.Real was born. I started posting my thoughts on Facebook and people were supportive and it was like self-therapy. I started my company Real Motivational to help anyone “going through it” or thought about ending it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was hard being so transparent and baring so much of my soul but it was worth it to know my words helped others to look inward and be honest with themselves.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an inspirational speaker, poet, Podcaster, creator of Hopeless Romantics Club, Wedding Officiant, and co-owner of Da Foodies. I’m known for my quotes, my social media presence, and my sense of humor. I’m most proud of taking who I was and using it as a foundation to help others growth and inspiration. What sets me apart from others is my ability to turn tragedy into triumph.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Honestly, neither because most of my misfortune in life came from poor decision-making and not holding myself accountable.
