Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Harris.
Hi Dana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story really started out of frustration. I was tired of running to the mall and never finding clothes that I liked, that fit well, or that were cut in a way that felt comfortable and appropriate for me. Jeans were either too low, tops were too revealing — it just wasn’t my style. So I decided to do something about it and started my own online boutique called Be Bold Boutique.
Be Bold Boutique was in business for eight years, and I absolutely loved it. Our motto was “quality over quantity,” and we focused on classy, timeless pieces — clothing that made women feel confident and covered. I’ve always believed that you don’t have to be naked to be sexy, and that message really resonated with my customers.
After eight years, I decided to return to school, and once I finished, I didn’t restart the boutique — even though people still ask if Be Bold is coming back! These days, I’ve shifted gears a bit. I’ve started a new content page called “Let’s Talk D’’tels.,”which stands for “Let’s Talk Details.” It’s a space where I talk about everything from fashion, relationships , to mental health, medical issues and much more.
Right now, I’m also working on something special — a piece that I believe anyone can wear, no matter their career or background. It’s going to be a real conversation starter, so stay tuned!
At this stage in my life, I’m all about living fully — having fun, spending time with family and friends, and of course, staying cute while doing it.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely wasn’t a smooth road, but every challenge taught me something valuable. When I first started Be Bold Boutique, I had no background in fashion or business — just a vision and determination. Looking back, I wish I had done more research on branding and marketing before jumping in. I thought having a website would automatically bring sales, but I quickly learned there’s so much more to running a successful business than just putting products online.
There were times when things didn’t go as planned, and I had to figure out everything on my own — from finding reliable vendors to learning how to connect with my audience. It was a lot of trial and error, but those experiences taught me patience, persistence, and the importance of always being willing to learn.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
What I’m most known for is creating spaces — whether through my boutique or my content — that make women feel seen, confident, and comfortable in their own skin. When I ran Be Bold Boutique, my focus was always on quality over quantity and helping women find timeless, classy pieces that made them feel beautiful without showing everything. My motto has always been, “You don’t have to be naked to be sexy.” I wanted my customers to feel empowered, covered, and confident.
Now, through my new platform “Let’s Talk D-TEL” (Let’s Talk Details), I’ve shifted that same energy into conversation. I talk about real topics that women deal with — from fashion and confidence to pre-menopause, mental health, and career changes. It’s about being open, honest, and relatable. I want people to feel like they’re sitting down chatting with a friend who understands.
What sets me apart is my authenticity and heart. Everything I do — whether it’s styling an outfit or starting a conversation — comes from a real place. I’ve learned that women connect most when they feel understood, and that’s what I aim to bring to every space I’m in.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I actually joined a mentor group, which was helpful, but honestly, my biggest support came from other boutique owners. The boutique community can be so generous when you find the right people. I’ll never forget one boutique owner who actually took a trip to L.A. and invited me to come along to visit the fashion district. I had no idea where it was or how to navigate it at the time, and that experience opened my eyes to a whole new side of the business. I’ll be forever grateful for that — it really showed me the power of women helping women.
