Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle De León.
Hi Danielle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
22 years. 🤍✂️
Sometimes it’s hard to believe this career started because of a single walk-through in the 8th grade.
We passed the cosmetology classroom, and I remember thinking, “That looks so cool.” Little did I know that one moment would shape the rest of my life.
I entered high school with enough credits to apply for the cosmetology program as a freshman. By the time I was a junior, I was licensed at just 16 (almost 17!) and convinced I was ready to conquer the world.
Well… life had other plans.
I went to college for a few years, and while I realized the classroom wasn’t where I was meant to be, something incredible happened. I built a loyal clientele doing my sorority sisters’ hair. Without even realizing it, I was laying the foundation for the business I’d one day own.
When I left college, I began my career at Lifetime Fitness Salon & Spa, where everything really started to take off. I spent six amazing years there learning, growing, and falling even more in love with this industry.
Then came my first leap of faith.
I ventured into the independent world at Heidi’s, an open-concept booth rental salon that was full of energy, creativity, and fun. Over the next five years, my clientele continued to grow, and so did my confidence.
Then I took another leap… into suite life.
I quickly realized this was exactly where I belonged. As much as I loved the excitement of a busy salon, there was something so special about the quiet, personal experience of having my clients all to myself. By then, my books were consistently full, I was constantly double-booked, and those one-on-one conversations became one of my favorite parts of every day.
Fast forward to today…
I’m a six-figure stylist, a color and extension specialist, independent educator and I rent the entire upstairs of a standalone salon in beautiful downtown Grapevine. It’s basically one giant suite with the dreamiest natural light and the most incredible location. I’ve proudly called it home for the past six years.
One of my greatest joys has been mentoring my assistant, Abby. We’ve worked side by side for the last year, and now it’s her turn to spread her wings as she begins her journey as a junior stylist. Watching someone else grow the way others once encouraged me is one of the most rewarding parts of this career.
Looking back, I never could’ve imagined that one glance into a cosmetology classroom would lead me here.
A career I absolutely love.
Clients who have become family.
A business I’m incredibly proud of.
A team that’s growing.
And a life that is fuller than I ever dreamed.
Most importantly, I get to come home to my best friend—my husband—and our three beautiful boys, who remind me every day what all of this hard work is really for.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
If I’m being completely honest and transparent, the beauty industry is not for the weak. Success doesn’t happen overnight. In fact, I was just talking to my assistant about this. I told her you have to put in the “ass time.” 😂 There’s no shortcut—you have to earn it.
I told her about the days when I worked at Lifetime Fitness and would walk through the women’s locker rooms offering free shampoo and blowouts just to get people in my chair. I said yes to everything. Haircuts, color, waxing, manicures, pedicures, luxury facials… if it was on the service menu, I was doing it. I even spent an entire summer waxing people—which will humble anyone real quick. 😂 And don’t even get me started on the season of wiggly little kid haircuts!
Looking back, every single one of those experiences taught me something. They made me faster, more confident, more versatile, and gave me a work ethic that still serves me today.
It wasn’t until well into my career that I became intentional about the clientele I wanted to build. I realized where my passion truly was and decided to specialize instead of trying to be everything to everyone.
Today, I get to spend 3–4 days a week doing what I absolutely love—creating beautiful color and installing extensions for the most amazing clients. And while I don’t miss waxing bikini lines or chasing squirmy toddlers with scissors 😂, I’m genuinely grateful for every chapter that got me here.
Every phase mattered. Every client mattered. Every “yes” helped build the career I have today. 🤍✂️

I’ve been in the beauty industry for 22 years, and I truly believe I’ve found exactly what I was meant to do. I specialize in custom hair color and luxury hair extensions, creating looks that are beautiful, natural, and tailored specifically to each client. Whether it’s a complete transformation or subtle enhancement, my goal is always the same—to help people feel confident and like the very best version of themselves.
What I’m most proud of isn’t just building a six-figure business—it’s building it through relationships. Many of my clients have been with me for years, some for decades. I’ve had the privilege of doing their hair through graduations, weddings, pregnancies, career changes, and every milestone in between. Those relationships mean everything to me.
I think what sets me apart is that I never stop learning. Even after 22 years behind the chair, I’m constantly investing in advanced education, refining my techniques, and staying ahead of industry trends so I can continue offering my clients the very best. I also intentionally create a luxury, one-on-one experience in my private salon space where clients can relax, feel heard, and leave feeling more confident than when they arrived.
Beyond the chair, one of my greatest accomplishments has been mentoring the next generation. Watching my assistant grow into a confident junior stylist has been incredibly rewarding, and it’s reminded me how important it is to give back to an industry that has given me so much.
At the end of the day, I don’t just do hair—I build confidence, create lasting relationships, and help people see the beauty they already have. That’s what has kept me passionate about this career for more than two decades. ✨
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I’ve never believed that luck is a strategy. Opportunities may present themselves, but it’s what you do with them that determines your success.
Looking back over the last 22 years, I’ve certainly been blessed with incredible mentors, loyal clients, and doors that have opened at just the right time. But none of those opportunities would have mattered if I hadn’t been willing to work for them.
I built my career one client at a time. I worked nights, weekends, took every service I could, gave free shampoo and blowouts to meet new people, invested in continuing education, and consistently showed up—even when business was slow. Those weren’t lucky moments; they were choices.
If “luck” has played a role, I believe it’s been the result of preparation meeting opportunity. The harder I’ve worked, the more opportunities I’ve created for myself.
I don’t attribute my success to luck. I attribute it to consistency, resilience, and a genuine love for serving people. Those things have carried me much further than luck ever could. ✨
