Rising Stars: Meet David Archibald of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Archibald

Hi David, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
“I’ve always had a love for music. As a kid, my mom signed me up for viola lessons, and I immediately fell in love with it. As I got older, I branched out to bass, and eventually guitar. After high school, I discovered songwriting as a way to understand the parts of myself that didn’t make sense. It became my way to approach questions like, ‘Why am I here?’ ‘Why do I feel this way?’ and ‘How do I heal from heartbreak?’ To be honest, it didn’t necessarily provide the answers, but it gave me a strange sense of comfort. I guess that’s all I really needed—to feel that it would be okay, even when I wasn’t sure. My hope is that my songwriting can offer others that same sense of comfort.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Music can be an expensive journey, and funding a song’s production is often a big challenge. To make it work, I’ve stepped into the role of producer for my own music. It’s been tough at times, but it’s also given me the chance to pour more of myself into every song and really shape my sound.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have the honor of serving as the bassist for The First Dallas Band at First Baptist Dallas, where I recently contributed as a writer on their latest EP, For Your Glory. I am devoted to glorifying the Lord by faithfully stewarding the gifts and opportunities He has graciously entrusted to me.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
When searching for a mentor, reach out to those further along on the path you want to walk. The right ones will meet you with kindness and wisdom—if they don’t, they’re not meant to guide you.
