Today we’d like to introduce you to DeAnna Byrd.
Hi DeAnna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story has always been rooted in two things: creativity and people. I’ve been capturing stories in one form or another for over a decade — through filmmaking, design, events, and now books. But the true turning point for me came when I realized that every part of my life was woven together by one purpose: to help people see the beauty, glory, and identity already inside them.
I started Divine Design over ten years ago while raising my kids and navigating life as a wife, mom, and creative. Over the years I took on everything from branding to events to video production, and eventually my work evolved into something much deeper — storytelling that transforms. My husband and I now run multiple branches of that vision, including Fly Films Media, Hawk & Hummingbird Homestead, and most recently ONE Testimony Films, our nonprofit focused on capturing personal stories of hope and transformation.
What I do today is the most aligned I’ve ever felt. I tell stories, I design, I film, I write, and I help people articulate their purpose. My goal is always the same: to create something beautiful and meaningful that helps someone feel seen, known, and connected. Every chapter of my life — the hard parts and the miracles — has led me to where I am now, and I’m grateful I get to use all of it to serve others and build something bigger than myself.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Most of what I’ve built has come out of seasons where I had to choose faith over fear, clarity over chaos, and purpose over pressure. As a wife, mom, and someone running multiple creative businesses, there were years where I was juggling everything at once — deadlines, clients, motherhood, finances, and my own healing journey.
There were times when I felt unseen or underestimated, times when I had to start over, and times when the workload was heavy enough that I questioned if I should keep going. I’ve had to rebuild my confidence more than once. I’ve had to navigate burnout, inconsistent income, shifting seasons, and the pressure of being the person everyone depends on.
But every obstacle strengthened me. Every challenge stripped away what wasn’t aligned and brought me closer to what is. I learned how to set boundaries, how to trust my gifting, how to follow the voice of God, and how to create from a place of peace instead of survival. Looking back, the struggles actually carved out the clarity I needed — they shaped my voice, my vision, and the heart behind the work I do today.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I call myself a creative, but really what I do is tell stories — visually, emotionally, and spiritually. My work lives in a few different expressions: filmmaking, design, books, testimonies, and creative direction. Whether it’s a wedding film, a brand identity, a social media campaign, or a testimony video for ONE Testimony Films, my heart is always the same: to capture the truth, beauty, and identity inside someone’s story.
I specialize in creating meaningful, emotional content that feels alive — something people can feel in their chest, not just watch or read. I’m known for my ability to take someone’s story and translate it into something visually stunning and spiritually impactful. I write, design, film, direct, edit, and guide people through the process of discovering the deeper message inside their own life.
What I’m most proud of is that everything I create is rooted in purpose. Nothing is “just a project” to me. My work carries heart, intention, and a desire to help people feel seen, known, and connected. I think what sets me apart is that I don’t separate creativity from spirituality — I merge them. I let God guide the flow, and people feel that. They feel safe, they feel understood, and they feel like their story matters.
My creativity isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence. And that’s what makes my work unique.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was a mix of everything — part introverted, part extroverted, and always deeply aware of the people around me. I was the creative kid, the helper, the dreamer, the sensitive one, the organizer, and somehow also the leader. I loved imaginative play, dance and cheer, being involved in drama, and organizing anything I could bring order or beauty to. I was the vice president of the drama club in high school, active in youth church activities, and the kid who always gravitated toward helping people or bringing others together.
Nature has always been one of my happiest places, even as a child. A hammock under the trees or just being outside in the quiet has always felt like home to me. I’ve been spiritually aware for as long as I can remember — I don’t recall a time when I didn’t feel close to the Creator or curious about the deeper meaning in things.
I grew up in Dallas with a strong sense of independence and an entrepreneurial spirit around me. Both of my parents owned businesses at different points, so it never felt strange to dream big or create my own path. I was always the kid people said was “aware,” “mindful of others,” and easy to talk to.
One of the defining memories from my teenage years was leading Bible studies outside my high school before class. Even then, I felt called to share love, encourage others, and create safe spaces for people to feel seen and supported. Looking back, everything I do now makes perfect sense — it all started there.
