Rising Stars: Meet Dena Ashton of FORT WORTH

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dena Ashton.

Hi Dena, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2018, I returned to my community following my mom’s cancer diagnosis, which motivated me to become more actively involved. I founded Youth of Royalty Outreach Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to mentoring teen girls, and served as the vice president of the Lake Como Neighborhood Advisory Council for two years. In 2023, I stepped into the role of president, continuing my commitment to fostering positive change and support within the community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Balancing my business, mentoring, and community work was challenged at times, but I learned it was all part of the plan. I’ve grown personally while helping others thrive. The impact on my mentees and community affirms the value of this meaningful

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My dynamic, faith-rooted mentoring program designed to equip teen girls with the tools they need to thrive in every area of life. Through interactive curriculum that blends practical life skills, civic awareness, self esteem and personal development, my program nurtures confident, informed, and purpose-driven young women.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is my Faith, knowing that this journey may not be easy all.of the time, but it’s definitely my purpose and my faith keeps me going, my family makes me happy, to always have the love and support from them and being able to discover new resources and networking with others to bring valuable information to my community makes me happy knowing that it will make us a stronger and more informed community
