Hi Devito, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story began with my love for photography. I truly enjoyed capturing others in the moment, which inspired me to create those moments myself. That’s how I connected with my partners, and together we developed the vision of reinventing the Dallas social space for young professionals. Our inspiration came from vibrant experiences traveling to other cities and our desire to recreate that vibe closer to home. We wouldn’t be where we are without the Dallas community that helped build and shape us. Most of our success is credited to the support of the Dallas community, who trusted us to create a safe space for self-expression and creative vision.
My hope is that Apollowrldx expands from Dallas to a global stage, becoming a hub for those seeking a rich fusion of culture, community, and fashion.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a mostly smooth journey, with a few bumps along the way, but our events have been embraced with love and support by the attendees. We’ve created a welcoming space for young professionals in the African community, and we’re excited to invite other communities to join us on this journey. We want everyone to feel at home in Apollowrldx.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
A bit about my journey, I work as an application analyst in health IT, driven by a passion for using technology to improve patient care. Each day, I design and maintain the software that hospitals depend on to provide the best outcomes for their patients.
Alongside that, I’m involved with Apollowrldx, where I handle all the logistics for our events, making sure everything runs smoothly from securing venues to managing the day itself.
Looking back, I’m really proud of what I’ve accomplished since moving from a foreign country. Earning my master’s degree and starting a brand with my closest friends has been incredibly fulfilling. I think my resilience sets me apart; it allows me to bounce back from challenges and learn from them. I also try to stay optimistic, always looking for the silver linings, and I bring that perspective to everything I do. I also consider myself personable with everyone I meet, which helps me connect and build meaningful relationships along the way.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Dallas is that it truly embodies the idea of a melting pot, bringing together a diverse range of cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives. It’s a place where different ideas, traditions, and talents naturally come together, creating endless possibilities. Whether in business, art, or building community, Dallas is full of potential for growth and innovation. The diversity here is a constant source of inspiration, reminding me that opportunities are everywhere for those who embrace the city’s evolving atmosphere.
As Dallas continues to grow, it can be challenging to find event spaces that align with our vision and are eager to bring our ideas to life. We also hope to see more variety in the types of event spaces available across the city. I’m hopeful that as our business expands, we’ll connect with like-minded business owners who can help create opportunities to host and support our growing community.
