Rising Stars: Meet Ethala Caldwell of Cedar Hill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ethala Caldwell.

Hi Ethala, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
🌟 THE STORY BEHIND THE VISION

I didn’t start DFW’s Children Got Talent just to create another talent show — I started it because I saw a gap.

So many children are incredibly talented, but they don’t always have access to platforms where they can truly be seen, heard, and supported. I’ve met parents who invest so much into their children’s passions, yet there isn’t a centralized space that brings everything together — performance, exposure, confidence-building, and real opportunity.

I wanted to create something bigger than a stage.

DFW’s Children Got Talent was built as a platform where children can discover who they are, not just what they can do. It’s about confidence, creativity, and giving them a moment to shine in a way that feels real and meaningful.

What makes this experience unique is that we’re not just focusing on performance — we’re documenting journeys. We’re capturing growth, personality, and the stories behind each child. That’s where the docu-series component comes in. We want families to look back and say, “This is where it started.”

This is about building something that impacts not just the children, but the entire community — bringing families, educators, and local businesses together to support the next generation.

At the end of the day, my vision is simple:

I want every child who steps into this experience to leave feeling more confident, more seen, and more inspired than when they started.

Because when a child believes in themselves, everything changes.

“I’m building something that children won’t just participate in — they’ll remember as a defining moment in their journey.”

“This isn’t just a talent show — it’s a platform for confidence, creativity, and opportunity.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like anything meaningful, building this hasn’t come without challenges. From organizing systems to making sure
every detail supports families properly, it’s been a learning process.

But every challenge has helped refine the vision. It’s pushed me to be more intentional, more structured, and more focused on creating an experience that truly serves the community.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the founder of DFW’s Children Got Talent, a youth-focused platform designed to give children the opportunity to discover, develop, and showcase their talents in a meaningful and structured way.

I specialize in creating experiences that go beyond performance — combining talent development, confidence-building, and storytelling through our docu-series approach. I also specialize in Social Media Management, Website Building and the overall marketing experience. My focus is not just on what I can do or what children can do, but who we are becoming throughout the process.

What I’m most proud of is building something that brings families, communities, and young talent together in a way that feels purposeful. This isn’t just an event — it’s a platform that gives children a real sense of visibility, belonging, and growth.

What sets me apart is the vision behind the experience. While many programs focus solely on performance, I’ve intentionally created a system that highlights each child’s journey — from their first introduction to their development over time. The inclusion of a docu-series element allows us to capture their stories, personalities, and progress, creating something lasting for both the families and the community.

At its core, my work is about creating opportunities where children feel seen, supported, and inspired — and building a platform that continues to grow with them year after year.

“This is just the beginning. The stage we’re building now is going to open doors for so many children in the future.”

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I would describe myself as very driven, creative, and determined. I’ve always had a strong love for music, dance, and expressing myself — it was one of the ways I found my voice at an early age.

I also took on a lot of responsibility very young, which shaped me into someone who had to grow up quickly. While my journey wasn’t always easy, it taught me resilience, independence, and how to keep pushing forward no matter the circumstances.

Even through challenges, I remained ambitious. I’ve always been the type of person who believes in going after what I want and not giving up, and that mindset has stayed with me throughout my life.

I’ve also always had a heart for people. I genuinely enjoy seeing others succeed and thrive, and that’s something that has always been a core part of who I am.

One thing that stands out from my childhood is my passion for performing. I participated in talent shows and consistently pushed myself to grow, and I’m proud to say that I won every talent show I entered. That experience gave me confidence, discipline, and a deep understanding of what it feels like to be on that stage.

Looking back, I can see that everything I experienced — both the challenges and the victories — helped shape the person I am today. It gave me the drive, compassion, and vision to create something meaningful for others.
