Hi Jay & Mani, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Through our long-term, transparent friendship, we discovered our love and interest in money on unique levels. This inspired us to create our podcast Fine & Filthy…Rich, two young black women discussing financial literacy. We felt like it was important to provide a space for young adults like ourselves to openly discuss money, which is generally a taboo topic, especially in our community. Currently, we have over 25 episodes exploring a range of different topics as well as a social media following and consistent fan base.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our biggest challenge has been living in different states on different time zones. We don’t have the luxury of meeting up and recording in a fancy studio, which would be ideal. Thus, the creation of each podcast requires more effort on both of our ends. Another challenge this has created is producing quality audio for our listeners. We have switched platforms in order to achieve the finest playback.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
We generate content surrounding finances geared towards like-minded women in our community to empower them to increase their awareness of money. Something that sets us apart is our transparency; unlike many creators or professionals in this genre, we do not claim to know it all or have it all. While our primary focus is our podcast, we also emphasize social media content and workable materials such as budgeting templates and more.
What are your plans for the future?
Our biggest plan for the future is growing our audience in all aspects. We hope to partner with more like-minded individuals or brands with missions that align with ours.
