Rising Stars: Meet Hailey Wright of Plano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hailey Wright

Hi Hailey, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was raised here in Plano, TX by a single mother, my childhood shaped me and motivated me to pursue multiple college degrees. It was then my own motherhood experience that got me where I am today. I worked extremely hard to get accepted into a top occupational therapy graduate program and a few weeks before that program started, I found out I was expecting. Many did not think I would make it through my graduate program while also raising a newborn, but I did it. Shortly after graduation, I started working as a pediatric occupational therapist until my daughter began getting so sick and eventually hospitalized that I then realized I needed to make a lifestyle change. My husband, a small business owner himself (we have a mom-and-pop auto repair shop) told me to go for my wildest dreams and have the time and freedom I need to raise my daughter and with that, my photography business and studio was born. With a background as an OT and a passion for motherhood and child development, I then decided to also start a local social group – The Mom Walk Collective | Plano, TX. We meet twice a month to make new motherhood friendships and connect with local resources.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road at all. I had a newborn while completing a graduate degree in the middle of a pandemic, I am not sure how I made it to the finish line at times. Even as small business owners, my husband and I have a pretty small village here in our parenthood community and while at times it’s tough because we are both self-employed, it’s also the most rewarding experience to be able to be such present parents with our children. I chose to be positive about it and build my own motherhood community where I can find support for myself and also provide support for other mothers who may be going through their own bumpy roads.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Newborn, Childhood, and Family photographer here in Dallas, TX who focuses on the wild and chaotic moments that make families and children unique. I specialize in milestone sessions and cake smash sessions. I am most proud of my studio space and the ability to create individual sets based on the visions of my clients. I would say the one thing that sets me apart is my background in occupational therapy and child development, I truly understand the importance of getting down on a child’s level, and I also have experience working with children with developmental delays.
