Rising Stars: Meet Hope Schoen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hope Schoen.

Hi Hope, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi! my name is Hope and I am a graphic designer for my husband and I’s company, SchoenMade. My husband, Trevor, started this company in 2020 just doing laser engraving – I jumped on board at the start of 2022 after we had our first kid in November 2021. I had worked for a marketing agency in Dallas for almost 4 years as a graphic designer, but once I found out I was pregnant, I knew I wanted to stay at home after he was born and start working for myself. Trevor loved the idea of us working together and incorporating a design aspect to the company. It’s been really fun creating brands for digital appeal as well as using those new logos to engrave on company collateral, thus building the brand even further.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My work/life balance has been an adjustment but ultimately has been so rewarding. Although the engraving side is much more tedious and time-consuming, my graphic design role is much more enjoyable than working a corporate job and I love that my main priority is still spending time with my toddler. I’m over the moon that I get to be a mom first and foremost, without having to sacrifice my work. Being a mom gives me purpose AND working gives me purpose. I’m so grateful I get to do both.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in re-brands and logo design, but I really can do it all. Postcards, flyers, branding guides, website design, business cards, photography, social media graphics, banners…really anything that a company would need to advertise their brand. At my last job, I juggled many different clients in many different professions that all needed different things. It was hectic, but it prepared me well. Fun fact: I actually started in social media management and then quickly moved into a graphic design role once I realized how much I loved it. Since working in both those roles, I gained tons of experience working with different kinds of businesses/clients and how to appropriately manage expectations and deadlines. Without the open opportunities they gave me to grow and learn, I would not be the designer I am today! It would’ve been really easy to stop working after having my kid, but I’m incredibly proud of myself for being aware enough that I need to maintain some level of work even while taking on the newness of motherhood. I enjoy doing what I do way too much to just stop. I’m incredibly attentive, creative, punctual, and communicative. I hold myself and my work to a very high standard, and I love collaborating with people to help them build the brand of their dreams!
What do you think about happiness?
Happiness for me comes in a joyful little package that includes my husband, my son, my animals…and this messy but beautiful life we all live together! Happiness is also a nice patio margarita, live music, fresh baked bagels, being outside, Jurassic Park marathons, and coffee shop outings. My friends, family, and community are also the root of a lot of my happiness; they fill me up with the Spirit of God and encourage me daily. My husband and I have an amazing support system by our side and could not be happier with the life we’ve been blessed with! Life is what you make it, so fill it with things that make you happy (:
