Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacob Frenette.
Hi Jacob, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I originally started Dimensions Escape Rooms because I had a love for escape rooms. When I was away from home (I went to Chicago), there was an escape room I would drive by daily and each time I would drive by it, I would be fascinated by the themes they had presented on the outside of the building. Each time I drove by, I would think of how fun it would be to build these escape room themes. The tech and the puzzles would be so fun!
It was then that it clicked– I could start my own escape room! Why not?
So I got to work, I began calling around, trying to find buildings to lease. Trying to get in contact with other local escape room owners who could help me know where to get started. I began learning all I could about building props and puzzles. What types of tech I would need to run and operate these puzzles.
Eventually, I was in! I found what I needed to do to innovate and build rooms, the next part was to achieve our goal of building the best escape rooms we could! Now Dimensions Escape Rooms is here!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all! Actually, when we first began, we started right before COVID. So before we could get open, we were shut down. Stuck to pay rent with no money coming in.
We ran into huge learning curves with the programming which forced us to work around-the-clock to squash the bugs we had so we could get the beta tests done.
We ran into supply chain issues and numerous chances to fail!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Most of my work has been with escape rooms actually! I’m a young Entrepreneur that started in their career doing escape rooms!
People know I’m reliable. I can build anything I set my mind to. I learned how to build websites, 3d model, code, inject molds, and so much more to build this business. I’m not even 25 yet!
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Build others up, and they will support you
