Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacob Serrano.
Hi Jacob, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My life has been surrounded by music ever since I was a child. I come from a musical family and both of my parents are musicians. I started taking lessons in middle school and very quickly I realized that music is what I wanted to do with my life. In high school, I went to Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy where I learned a lot about my craft. I have competed and performed most of my life in music and still do to this day!
Currently, I work in music full-time as a teacher and performer. I also have made my own label with my best friend Son Chau; Best Shot Music! I’m doing everything possible to make it in this music industry, and want to bring a positive change in this world through music!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Trying to make music my profession definitely hasn’t been easy. Some weeks are slow and I used to wonder if I should change professions and pursue a career that offers more stability in life and income. But the truth is no one chooses music as a career, Music chooses you. and ever since high school I knew that that is what I wanted for my life. I’m learning new things about music and music business every day! I also wouldn’t be able to do what I love it wasn’t for the support of my family and friends. Any time I get discouraged their belief in me pushes me forward!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Currently, my work consists of three components; Teaching, Performing and Producing music. I teach private lessons and also teach in a music store. I love working with students of all ages and sharing my passion for music with them! I also perform in all kinds of venues all throughout the DFW area. And I write, produce, and release all of my own music independently. I’m very proud of what I do and hope to build upon my music business more with time!
What are your plans for the future?
I really am trying to market my music more! My dream is to be a full-time artist one day where writing, producing, and performing is all I do. I am currently partnering with many marketing agencies to help me build my socials and music marketing reach.
