Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamarcus Lewis-Washington.
Hi Jamarcus, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Jamarcus I’m from east Texas, born and raised in Marshall Tx, done some work in the Dallas area for a good while now. Well, I honestly got started just writing poetry. I remember when I really wanted to take it seriously when I was attending Tyler Junior college and my professor at the time saw some of my poetry and asked have I ever considered writing short stories and scripts, etc. he wanted me to help write a play for him which I ultimately ended writing the whole story and script within three weeks and I just knew then, that this is what I want to do. The nostalgic feeling I felt behind the script and how receptive it was to people I just loved it.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This road has been very bumpy. I’ve had times where I’d want to give up but, I just knew that I couldn’t. I’ve had failed productions. I’ve had failed relationships (romantically, friendship) chasing this dream of mine but, it all paid off when I received a call from a company in Pasadena, California, about wanting to produce my first film. I sent a plenty of scripts out to people and they was so intrigued with the story with the storyline, the twist and turns of the script and it I knew then everything I’ve been through was all worth it. As my pops told me (God rest his soul) if you don’t work, you don’t eat, and I’ve been grinding my butt off working, so now it’s time for me, and FloeticPassions™️ To eat.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
My company FloeticPassions™️ specializes in scriptwriting/content producer for social media outlets like YouTube, Facebook, etc. for other artists. You give me an idea, and I’ll write a script for you. That’s just how it’s done. We will brainstorm, write out ideas, then boom, a script is born. My most proudest moment is when I got the call in 2019 about a job opportunity with the production company in Pasadena, California and in 2020, pitching a script to them and now having my very first film come out at the end of the year in 2021. Film is going to be epic, entitled “It’s Up There,” a story based on a character created by myself, a woman living a double life. A branch manager of a bank by day and a drug queen pin by night, it’s one of the most edge-sitting thrillers I’ve ever written. It’s action-packed with all types of twists and turns. Which I feel sets me apart so much from other writers. I’m not afraid to push that envelope. I will think outside the box. You know when people always daydream about “what if” moments in life? I make those “what’s if” moments come to light with anything I write/produce. I love to have a crowd on the edge of their seats and BOOM leaving them in suspense. Which is why I think I’m different from writers, and I always give respect to other writers in the area and even outside the Texas areas, those who have a lot more productions than me like stage plays, films etc., but I just feel Ike I bring a different dynamic to this industry and it’s my time to show what it is that I do.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
I have two things that matter the most. Leaving a mark in this industry and having a valued product/script. When I say leaving my mark, I mean just that. Being that person that when you see written by FloeticPassions™. Then you already know that this is going to be a great project, or this will be a great film, or whatever the case if it’s written by me it will be great, and that’s the mark I want to leave that when people see the name FloeticPassions™. They’ll know oh he was that dude. And having a valued product/script is just that. I take doing a project of any magnitude seriously so I least want to make sure that it has value and it’s not rushed and thrown together. I want to make sure it has substance, etc. I want to make sure it’s has worth and value, so that’s very important to me. No one wants to pay for something that’s rushed and thrown together. No, my product/scripts are not just a fast-food restaurant. No, I take my time and make sure it has value.
