Rising Stars: Meet Janiyah Jacobs of Dallas-Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janiyah Jacobs.

Hi Janiyah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
What started as a leap of faith has become six years of purpose, growth, and style. Shéic Exchange Formally Known As “The J.Renee Stylez” Originally Started In 2019 As I Was In College On The Campus Of Alabama A&M University. What started as personal styling and custom clothing business quickly became something much bigger. I’ve always believed that fashion is more than just clothing— it’s confidence, self-expression, and a way for people to show up as their best selves.

As my vision grew, so did the brand. I rebranded to Shéic Exchange to reflect a broader mission of providing thoughtfully curated fashion that helps women feel beautiful, confident, and empowered every time they get dressed. Along the way, I’ve worn many hats— from the buyer and stylist, to the photographer, marketer, website designer and content creator. Every challenge has helped shape not only the business but also the entrepreneur I’ve become.

Looking back I’m grateful for every lesson and pivot. I’m excited for who to come, I believe Shéic Exchange’s best chapters are still being written.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Along the way the journey hasn’t always been easy, but then again entrepreneurship isn’t always easy. Building a business from the ground up has come with financial challenges, slow seasons, and moments of uncertainty. I’ve had to wear many hats and learn through trial and error. Through it all, my faith has kept me grounded, and each obstacle has made Shéic Exchange stronger.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Shéic Exchange, I specialize in curating stylish, confidence-boosting fashion that helps women look and feel their best. I’m known for creating intentional shopping experiences, producing creative visual content, and building a brand that reflects both style and purpose.

What I’m most proud of is growing Shéic Exchange from a college startup into a brand that has continued to evolve over the past six years. What sets us apart is that we’re more than a boutique—we’re a community. Every collection is thoughtfully curated with our customer in mind, and everything we do is rooted in excellence, authenticity, and a desire to help women feel confident every time they wear Shéic Exchange.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I would say resilience and faith. Building a business requires consistency, adaptability, and the willingness to keep going even when things don’t go as planned. My faith has taught me to trust God’s timing, and my resilience has helped me turn challenges into opportunities for growth. Those two qualities have been the foundation of my journey and continue to shape the way I lead Shéic Exchange.
