Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely was not a smooth road! I’ve quit my business several times, lol. I just relaunched it for the fourth time a few months ago. I needed to take a break to pivot and reintroduce my brand to the marketplace. I started coaching in 2014 and stopped in 2021. I started out as a writing coach and ended as a publishing consultant. I struggled to determine what I wanted to do long-term. Also, because I was publishing books for so many other people, I didn’t get a chance to write and publish for myself. I was blessed to evolve in the self-publishing space, but it was time to wrap it up. Around 2018, I became passionate about branding and teaching. So, after I closed my publishing business in 2021, I focused on strengthen my branding and teaching skills. My relaunch offers more branding services and group coaching programs.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an Author Coach and Brand Strategist. I’m known for and specialize in teaching aspiring authors how to write their books in 90 days or less. I also specialize in teaching newly published authors how to turn their books into a profitable brand. I’m most proud of the success of my business. I’ve been able to consult and work with thousands of authors and help them achieve their goal of becoming an author. I think that’s really dope. What sets me apart from other author coaches is my experience and coaching style. The most consistent feedback I’ve received over the years has been that I’m patient and thorough. I think both of those traits are important for a good coach to have. My clients feel confident after they end my program to thrive on their author journey. I love that for them.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Anytime someone wants to do something new, I highly recommend working with a mentor that has excelled in the role that you aspire to fulfill. Nothing is more valuable than receiving advice from someone who has already walked the path that you’re about to walk. I was able to learn quite a bit on my own, but once I started working with coaches, that’s when I learned how to monetize my books. Continuing to learn from established coaches and studying my craft consistently has worked extremely well for me.
