JaiwaideStudio was born out of a desire to provide for my family, but over time it became my purpose. After going through a divorce, my drive only grew stronger as I became the primary support system for my three young sons—Dailynn, Daimeon, and Daikyro. Even during moments when I wasn’t at my best mentally, doing hair gave me strength and healing. Making others feel confident and renewed when they leave my chair has always fueled me. One of my sons is autistic, and he continues to motivate me daily to be an exceptional beauty professional so I can build consistency, stability, and a future for my family. In addition to my studio work, I also provide hair services at a state facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities, which has deepened my pride in my craft—because every client leaves smiling. JaiwaideStudio is more than a business; it’s my livelihood, my passion, and a reflection of resilience. Through hair, I’ve grown into the man I am today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. I had continue to build JaiwaideStudio while navigating a divorce, raising three young boys, and pushing through moments when I wasn’t mentally at my best. There were days I showed up out of necessity, not strength—but I showed up anyway. Being a father, especially to a child with autism, forced me to stay focused and consistent. Those struggles didn’t break me; they built the discipline and purpose behind everything I do today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I offer a full range of services including wig installs, locs, braids, and protective styling. I’m especially known for my precision lace installs, which helped establish my name early on. As I’ve grown, I’ve developed strength across all areas of my craft, allowing me to meet each client’s unique needs with consistency and care. What I’m most proud of is my ability to make every client feel seen, confident, and valued when they leave my chair. What sets me apart is not just versatility, but intention—I treat every service as an experience, not just a hairstyle.
