Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Bracken.
Hi Josh, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am Dallas-born and bred. My parents bought Nicholson-Hardie as a small seed store in 1974 when I was in kindergarten.
Nicholson-Hardie has been serving Dallas since 1899…with that much history my parents opted to keep the name.
My brother/business partner and I literally grew up in the business, and the single most important lesson we learned was that there is no substitute for quality and customer service.
We are now a third-generation family business with my son in the business as well!
I have been married for 30 years to my wife Chris and have 2 adult children Campbell and Mary Claire,
We have 2 Small Munsterlanders named Buddy and Chip.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Plenty of struggles along the way! We choose to stay positive and are so thankful have the best team and best customers in Dallas!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I own Nicholson-Hardie Home and Garden (with my brother Michael). We have 2 locations on Lovers Lane.
We specialize in quality products and customer service!
I am most proud of my amazing team!
We are a hometown store with a hometown feel…we have a fun upbeat happy vibe.
We have 3 store cats amongst our 2 locations and we are a very dog-friendly place as well!
We are fully focused on CUSTOMER SERVICE which you don’t see too often these days.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The home and garden industry trend is strong. Everyone is feathering their “nest”!
