Rising Stars: Meet Kaci Strawn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaci Strawn.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have a background in advertising and public relations (2006, TCU) and also have a master’s in history (2012, UTA). I earned my real estate license in 2014, and it has been an interesting way to combine the two passions: I primarily work in central and west Fort Worth, where there are many historic homes—marketing them to sell and helping buyers purchase them has been such a fulfilling part of my job as a realtor. I’ve been listed on my broker’s list of top producers since 2018 and Top Realtors ($8+million in sales) in Fort Worth, Texas magazine in 2022. I also invest in local real estate and have rehabbed several houses in town with the intention of preserving their historic integrity. I’ve also begun a “Curation” option for clients who need help prepping their homes for sale but don’t know how or don’t have the means. I help them with repairs, staging, clean-up, etc., to ensure they get the most out of their investment.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been surprisingly smooth, all things considered. There have been issues that, at the time, seemed Insurmountable, but over the years, I’ve learned that it’s just an issue that needs to be worked through. I’ve been very fortunate to have outstanding clients that trust my judgment and advice, and everything turns out ok in the end. Marketing properties came easily at the beginning because of my background but learning to navigate the negotiation process, and the “little fires” that pop up has taken some fine-tuning.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Realtor for Burt Ladner Real Estate. I specialize in residential real estate, mostly on the west side of Fort Worth, but I’ve worked all across DFW. I have a historic home designation, qualifying me to help clients buy and sell in historic neighborhoods. I also am a VA preferred agent, which means a lot to me. I was honored to help my stepbrother and his wife purchase a home with his VA benefits, as well as other veterans—thank you for your service! My most rewarding closing to date was a bit of a challenge: I had a client qualified to purchase a home with a VA loan—with a budget of $80,000. It took time and patience, but we found just the right house, and it even had the little shop attached to the garage he was wanting. My clients typically say that I’m passionate and will give them my honest opinion about a house, making sure they find the right fit instead of just trying to push a sale.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
It’s about the people, not the business.
