Rising Stars: Meet Kaitlyn Bomar of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Bomar

Kaitlyn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Of course! Wow, where to even begin. In college I really enjoyed what I studied: Fashion Merchandising. I learned it all: fashion, design, business planning, branding, product placement and what drove customer behavior. I worked three jobs through college – always two retail jobs at a time. I “burned the candle at both ends” as my uncle would say. All the character/behavior tests, astrology, you name it confirm that: I’m a Leo, enthusiast, fire sign, ENFJ – I have boundless energy, love relationships, and seek adventure and authenticity.

I’m so glad I’ve been able to translate what I learned in school to what I’ve done over the course of my career. When I took my first jobs out of college I worked for major brand retail stores like Anthropologie, 7 for All Mankind, Paige, Fossil, and Outdoor Voices. I knew at each of these companies and the various roles I held I did not just a good job, but an excellent one. This was expressed by my sales number and management teams, yes, but I really knew it by the satisfaction of each customer I helped. When they came in, whether they knew what they were looking for or not, my knowledge of the products, desire to serve, questions and efficient selections made happy clients every single time.

Truly, though I knew I was very good at what I did, I never considered an entrepreneurial journey because I didn’t think I had what it took — I didn’t trust myself. I remember even turning down job offers for heavily commission-based sales at places because I didn’t think I had what it took to succeed.

Like so many in retail and other industries, I was furloughed during the Covid pandemic shutdowns. I didn’t waste any time though, not knowing what the future held and started working for Shipt, delivering groceries to people. It was during this time that I was talking to my own Apartment Locator that had helped me find my first Dallas apartment in 2016. We had stayed connected, even became friends, and he told me how much he thought I would be “sooooooo good” at apartment-locating because of my people skills and work ethic.

I didn’t have the slightest idea what it would take, but driving Shipt didn’t seem like a long-term option for me, and the uncertainty of going back to the retail-world I had been in was still looming. So I started my real estate licensing process. I had just-so-happened to start dating someone at the time (who I am proud to say I am still with as partners!) who also was in real estate and the stars seemed to be lining up.

So I took the courses, passed the exam, and got to work with The Realm Agency – the same company my locator, TJ, was with, and was so happy to find I had joined a really hard-working, fun group of locators. I learned the ropes fast from my mentor and have been helping clients find their happy-place for over 4 years now! Due to the amount of people moving to DFW every month, I stay busy! I’ve been able to help hundreds of clients move over 400 times. I take every approach with my clients the same: thorough, detailed, efficient, and personalized – each one a friend.

In 2021, I decided to also begin serving my clients as a REALTOR® here in DFW, representing them in the purchases and sales of their real estate. It has been a very natural outgrowth of the client service I offer. Many of my clients who originally found their apartment with me then work with me to purchase their first house. For me, my clients’ needs come first, so whatever they need when it comes to “home”, I’m fully confident in the guidance and ease I offer and love what I get to do.

It’s been the connections, the friendships, the mentorship, the universe and my commitment to delivering THE BEST service that has got me where I am today, and I’m so grateful to keep following that as I go into the future.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No adventure is all it can be without a few bumps in the road to experience. But truthfully, I am so grateful and thankful that yes, things have been pretty smooth on my journey! There have been times of uncertainty (like when I was furloughed and unsure of the future) and even times when I have felt so overwhelmed with work I wasn’t sure if I could keep up. But every single time, I have practiced mantras and affirmations and seen my way through. One struggle that I have had is creating work-life balance. In the real estate world, there is always someone moving so the person I am always wants to help! This means I can wake up and work and go to sleep working, but making sure I create blocks of time for myself, family, health, hobbies and such is a constant work-in-progress.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m known for being a buyer’s personal shopper. I ask questions from the start that help me better understand your situation, needs and preferences and then I get to work. My work revolves around your timing, of course, and involves me searching, scouring and turning over rocks to give you the best-of-the-best options that fit all your criteria — including your budget! By the time it’s time to tour in-person, we’re only viewing top-tier properties that could actually work for you, so it’s a fun, decision-making time and everyone gets to feel accomplished.

I’m also known for my speed! I work fast, diligently (comprehensively) and my follow-through is bar-none. I want my clients to know they can count on me as their professional REALTOR®. But what I’m most proud of is my organization and attention to clients. Because of how I organize my systems and schedules, no one falls through the crack. I can talk to someone who needs to move this week or is thinking about moving next year and both of them are going to get the service and attention they deserve. I don’t mind educating and helping clients filter through what they actually want to. Many don’t know what they want or what’s possible, and I can help them! That is always very rewarding.

What are your plans for the future?
I’ve been building my real estate business here in DFW and have been thoroughly enjoying the adventure. My partner and I both have our careers here in Texas and family nearby – so our plan is to make some roots of our own here in Dallas. We both thrive on success just as equally as adventure. We are passionate about the work we do and want to also continue to grow with each other and explore – so our goals are to build our home here in Dallas, grow our businesses, and find adventure throughout the year to visit friends and journey through new landscapes.
