Rising Stars: Meet KariAnne Wood of McKinney, TX

Today we’d like to introduce you to KariAnne Wood.

Hi KariAnne, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I didn’t set out to start a blog — at least, not in the traditional sense. Thistlewood Farms grew out of the things that truly inspire me: a love for timeless style, meaningful storytelling (I am ALL about a story), and creating home that I wanted to fall in love with.

In the early days, Thistlewood Farms was simply a creative outlet — a place where I could document pieces of my life that brought me joy, from vintage finds and home projects to seasonal ideas and heartfelt reflections. What started as a hobby soon connected me with a community of people who shared similar passions. It was amazing to realize these readers weren’t just browsing; they were showing up, engaging, and inviting me into their lives, too..

As that connection grew, so did the blog. I began to treat Thistlewood Farms not just as a personal journal, but as a space to share practical content — how-tos, inspiration, and resources that help people feel confident and creative in their own homes and routines. I focused on creating content that’s honest, beautiful, and useful — because I believe every single person is capable of creating a home that they love.

Over time, that commitment helped Thistlewood Farms evolve from a side project into a trusted brand and creative hub. I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with brands I admire, expand into new content formats, and build a community that feels like family.

Through it all, what keeps me going is the simple love of sharing — whether it’s a decorating idea, a story from my home, or a little encouragement for someone’s day. It’s amazing to look back and see how far things have come, and I’m so grateful for every step of the journey. Truly!!!!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s not been smooth at ALL lol — and I think that’s an important part of the story.

In the beginning, one of the biggest challenges was simply learning as I went. I didn’t start with a business plan or a roadmap — I was figuring out technology, content creation, photography, SEO, and monetization all at the same time. There was a steep learning curve, and plenty of moments where I questioned whether I was doing things “right.”

I also struggled with the discipline to show up regularly. It was so hard at first! Growth didn’t happen quickly, and learning to keep going during the quiet seasons was one of the hardest lessons.

Looking back, those struggles were also the moments that shaped the direction of Thistlewood Farms the most. They forced me to refine my voice, focus on what truly serves my audience, and build something sustainable rather than fast. And now? That community is sustaining me with the coming advent of AI (another upcoming struggle).

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At Thistlewood Farms, my work has always been about more than decorating a house! It’s about creating a home that tells a story.

I share home décor, DIY, organizing, and lifestyle ideas with a focus on classic, cozy, lived-in style. I specialize in taking everyday spaces and making them feel thoughtful, welcoming, and beautiful without being complicated or out of reach. I love blue-and-white details, layered neutrals, simple projects, and the kind of ideas that make people say, “Oh — I could do that.”

What I’m probably most known for is blending inspiration with encouragement. I don’t just show the finished room or project — I share the process, the mistakes, the learning, and the heart behind it. Homes aren’t meant to be perfect; they’re meant to be lived in, loved in, and shared. I try to reflect that in everything I create.

What I’m most proud of is the community that has grown around Thistlewood Farms. Readers show up not just for ideas, but for connection — and that still amazes me. Knowing that something I’ve shared helped someone feel more confident in their home, or brought a little joy to their day, never gets old.

What sets Thistlewood Farms apart is that I don’t chase trends or picture-perfect moments. I focus on timeless ideas, simple creativity, and finding beauty in the everyday — even when life feels messy. I believe your home should feel like a hug, and if something I share helps make that happen, then I’m doing exactly what I’m meant to do.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I have always been an out-of-the-box thinker and very outgoing and gregarious. I loved people, conversation, and being right in the middle of whatever was happening. I’m curious, energetic, and not afraid to try something new, even if it hasn’t been done that way before.

Growing up, I was super creative. I loved decorating, imagining spaces, planning gatherings, and making everyday moments feel special. I even turned my bookcase into a dollhouse. and tried to sing at the Arkansas jamboree. 🙂

Personality-wise, I’ve always had a mix of optimism and boldness. I’m a big-picture thinker, a problem-solver, and someone who sees possibilities everywhere. I’ve never been afraid to pivot, experiment, or color outside the lines — and that willingness to take creative risks has followed me into my work today.
