Today we’d like to introduce you to Kate Talbert
Hi Kate, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started as someone who just loved makeup! Originally, I was a kindergarten teacher and loved it but after having my first daughter, I wanted to stay home with her.
Wanting to flex my creative muscles a bit, I started doing makeup for friends around town and I loved it! However, Covid put a stop to the in person makeovers so I pivoted and started creating makeup videos. I did one on how to do makeup for zoom meetings (because at that time everyone was having zoom meetings) and that was my first “viral” video. Things really took off from there and now creating educational beauty videos is my full time job and I absolutely love it!!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh there have definitely been some bumps!! Growing a social media presence is not the easiest thing to do and it can absolutely be disheartening to put your all into creating a video and then that video tanks. Thankfully, my family (especially my husband) have all been incredibly supportive and that has been a huge blessing.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a beauty educator. I create makeup videos that specialize in teaching beauty tips and techniques. I gear most of my content towards women over 40 because we are often an overlooked demographic in the beauty world.
Doing your makeup in your twenties is vastly different from doing your makeup in your forties. And lots of women can become overwhelmed with trying to master a new way of doing their makeup. So, I try to bridge that gap with my videos.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My husband (Chuck) absolutely has been my biggest cheerleader and supporter.
