Rising Stars: Meet Kayley Swan of Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayley Swan

Hi Kayley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey into branding and marketing began with a love for creativity and design. From a young age, I was drawn to artistic expression, but it wasn’t until college that I truly found my niche. I became captivated by hand lettering and calligraphy, eventually starting a small business creating custom gifts for friends and family. This venture, while short-lived, planted the seed for what would later become Pen & Co. Branding.

After gaining experience working for two businesses in the DFW area, I decided to take a leap of faith and launch my own freelance business. The decision was both exciting and terrifying, but I knew I needed to create something that truly reflected my passion and skills while helping others thrive in the process. Today, I specialize in brand design, social media marketing, and website design, helping business owners bring their visions to life. Each step along the way has been filled with challenges and growth, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to where I am now has been anything but smooth, but it has been incredibly rewarding. One of the biggest challenges I faced was navigating the transition from working for others to working for myself. It’s a shift that comes with uncertainty, especially when it comes to building a client base and managing all aspects of a business on your own.

Another challenge has been overcoming self-doubt. When you put your work out into the world, it’s easy to question whether it’s good enough or whether others will see the value in it. Learning to trust myself, my skills, and my ability to provide value to my clients has been a significant part of my journey. Each obstacle has taught me resilience and adaptability, two qualities that are essential in this ever-changing industry.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Branding and Marketing Consultant specializing in brand development, social media marketing, and website design. My mission is to help businesses transform their ideas into impactful, cohesive brands that stand out in their industries. From crafting unique logos and color palettes to developing social media strategies and designing engaging websites, my work is all about creating connections and delivering results.

What I’m most proud of is my ability to provide tailored solutions for each client. No two businesses are the same, so their branding and marketing strategies shouldn’t be either. I take the time to understand each client’s vision, goals, and industry nuances to create something truly unique.

What sets me apart is my holistic approach. I’m not just focused on creating something visually appealing; I’m committed to building brands that tell a story, create trust, and resonate with their target audience. My clients often say they appreciate the personalized attention and collaborative process I bring to every project.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe that taking risks is essential for growth, both personally and professionally. My decision to leave a stable job and start my own business was one of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken. It came with many “what ifs” and moments of doubt, but it also opened the door to opportunities I never could have imagined.

For me, risk-taking is about stepping outside of your comfort zone and trusting in your ability to adapt and succeed. In the world of branding and marketing, change is constant. Trends evolve, technology advances, and consumer preferences shift. Being willing to take risks and embrace change is what allows me to stay ahead and provide the best possible service to my clients.

Each leap I’ve taken has taught me something valuable, whether it was a success or a learning experience. I’ve learned to trust myself, embrace uncertainty, and focus on the bigger picture. At the end of the day, the greatest risk is not taking one at all.
