Hi Keed, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Keed Tha Heater, and I’m an independent hip-hop artist from Kansas City, Missouri. Music has always been a part of who I am, but like a lot of people, life took me down different roads. I’ve worked regular jobs, dealt with setbacks, made mistakes, and had to rebuild more than once. Through all of it, music remained the one thing I could always come back to.
Today I live in the Dallas area while continuing to represent Kansas City in everything I do. I’m completely independent, which means I’m responsible for every part of the business—from writing and recording to marketing, visuals, and building my brand. It’s a grind, but it’s also rewarding because every accomplishment is earned.
My brand, Quality Ova Quantity Music, reflects how I approach both music and life. I believe in creating work that lasts instead of chasing trends. Every project represents another chapter of growth, discipline, and consistency.
More than anything, my goal is to leave a legacy. I want people to hear my music and recognize authenticity. Whether someone connects with the struggle, the ambition, or the personal growth, I hope they leave feeling like they got something real.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like a lot of independent artists, one of the biggest challenges has been balancing real life with chasing a dream. I work a full-time job while funding my music career myself, so every studio session, music video, marketing campaign, and release comes from sacrifice and discipline.
I’ve also had to learn that talent alone isn’t enough. Building a career means understanding branding, marketing, networking, and business just as much as making great music. I’ve invested money into promotions that didn’t produce the results I expected, but every setback became a lesson that made me move smarter.
On a personal level, life has brought its own challenges—relationships, fatherhood, health setbacks, and moments where I questioned whether to keep going. Those experiences didn’t stop me; they gave me something real to write about. They’ve shaped who I am as both a man and an artist.
Today, I don’t look at obstacles as roadblocks. I look at them as part of the story. Every challenge has strengthened my work ethic and reinforced why I created my brand, Quality Ova Quantity Music. The goal has never been overnight success—it’s to build something authentic that lasts.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an independent recording artist, songwriter, and entrepreneur performing under the name Keed Tha Heater. I create music that’s rooted in authenticity, combining real-life experiences with lyrical storytelling and records that people can genuinely connect with. My music reflects ambition, adversity, faith, personal growth, and the lessons that come with life.
Beyond making music, I’ve built my brand, Quality Ova Quantity Music, around the belief that longevity matters more than trends. I take pride in being hands-on with every aspect of my career—from writing and recording to creative direction, branding, marketing, and building relationships within the industry. Being independent has forced me to wear every hat, and that experience has made me a better artist and businessman.
What I’m most proud of isn’t one song or one release—it’s the consistency. I’ve continued to build while working a full-time job, investing in myself, and refusing to cut corners. Every project represents growth, and every release moves the brand forward.
I think what sets me apart is that I’m not trying to manufacture an image. The person listeners hear in the music is the same person they would meet in real life. My goal isn’t just to make records that people enjoy today—it’s to create a catalog that still means something years from now.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
If I had to choose one quality, it would be discipline. Motivation comes and goes, but discipline is what keeps you moving when nobody is watching. There have been plenty of days when I was tired from working a full-time job or dealing with life, but I still showed up to write, record, work out, study the business, or invest in my career.
I also believe consistency beats talent when talent isn’t consistent. Success doesn’t usually come from one big moment—it comes from showing up over and over again, improving a little every day, and trusting the process even when the results aren’t immediate.
That’s really what Quality Ova Quantity Music represents. It’s not just a slogan—it’s a mindset. I’d rather build something with purpose and longevity than chase quick attention. I want my work, my reputation, and my character to speak for themselves.
At the end of the day, I hope people remember me not only for the music I made, but for the discipline, integrity, and persistence it took to build everything from the ground up.
