Rising Stars: Meet Kiara Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiara Brown.

Hi Kiara, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My first musical start was in a church choir when I was about 5. I was included in the children’s and adults’ choir (it was a small church lol) I knew then that I liked to sing and entertain. I would sing and make up songs on a Casio keyboard that my grandparents got me one Christmas but as I got older, I lost excitement for music. I became an angsty teenager and wrote all my thoughts versus sharing them musically. I entered my 20’s and was surrounded by musicians that pushed me to get back to something I truly enjoyed. I played around with the idea of just being a cover artist for a couple of years then I met someone that helped me gain the confidence to release my own thoughts for public consumption. Now here I am!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road at all, I will say that I believe that I’ve made it not that smooth though. My main struggles are believing in my talents and abilities. I’ve been fortunate enough to be surrounded by people that affirm me and pour words of encouragement into me.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a singer/songwriter that goes by the name of Small Town and I share my feelings 🙂 I specialize in transparency and authenticity.

I’m most proud of my newest single coming out called “Paramore Bag”, it’s a pop punk tune that feeds my inner angsty teenager.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I would love to sing with an orchestra one day, I was in the band from 6th grade until I graduated high school so I love classical music.
