Rising Stars: Meet Kristen Cipriano of Keller

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Cipriano

Hi Kristen, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My whole life I wanted to be an author, but for so long I had such a limited mindset about it. I didn’t think I was a good enough writer, I didn’t think anyone would care about what I wrote, and I believed that only the “rare few” succeed as an author. But it kept nagging at me–I knew in my soul I was meant to do this. So I started working on my mindset and developed the belief that my writing is good enough to reach bestseller status, people love my writing, and that I will one day have a reader fan base in the millions. Once I shifted my beliefs, the idea for the book just came to me. It poured out of me in 111 days. I literally could not stop writing. And now that its published and I’m starting to get reader feedback, everything I’m hearing may as well have been plucked from my affirmations. Readers are saying my book is “unputdownable” and are comparing it to top romantic fantasy series like ACOTAR and Throne of Glass. It’s been incredible to witness how shifting my beliefs and moving in faith has led to the exact results I hoped for 10 months ago when I started this process.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For 30 years, it was not a smooth road because I still was doubting my abilities and potential for success. But the last year has been surprisingly smooth. Anytime I encounter an obstacle, I just ask myself: what beliefs would help me get around this obstacle easier? What beliefs would help me skip this struggle and get to the good stuff faster? If this could be easier and more natural for me, what would I believe? And it works every time.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m the author of The Queen Rises by Kristen Cipriano. It’s a dystopian romantic fantasy novel where a vengeful King has stolen the magic from all the female elves, and our protagonist Fiana gets caught doing something illegal by the worst male she can imagine: a viciously powerful High Guard warrior, who’s also the right hand to the King. This leads to several unexpected consequences including life or death, betrayal and romance, and getting tangled in a web of secrets that makes it difficult to know who to trust. But the secrets aren’t all bad. In fact some lead Fiana to believe she can overthrow the King and retun the magic back to the female elves.

What I love about this book is it’s both a wildly entertaining page-turner with epic plot twists and sizzling romance, and it also deals with deeper psychological themes like power and powerlessness, and how to find your power even in impossible situations. So many of us feel powerless in life. And this book deals with what happens if someone takes your power. How do you keep going in that situation? How do you move into an empowered state even when the world appears to be against you?

It’s something I’ve personally dealt with that I think is highly relevant for people today.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
