Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Carr.
Hi Leah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Yes, of course! I reside in Arlington, Texas by way of Cleveland, Ohio. After receiving my Bachelors of Business Administration I began working in the insurance industry selling life and health insurance for companies such as Blue Cross Blue Shield and Trustage. After 6 years I decided to break free from the corporate world.
I then prayed and asked God to reveal my purpose to me so that I could live a more happy, healthy, and meaningful life. I finally took the leap of faith to operate in my calling. I combined my passion and skill to become my own boss which birthed Lady Lee’s Boutique.
I’ve always loved lady-like things and cared about my appearance. As a little girl I would change my outfit several times a day, carry a purse, and wear my white patent leather kitten heels. As a school-aged girl part of my first email address was lilladylee. I would always hear how fitting this was for me because I was a true little lady.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to entrepreneurship wasn’t a straight path and I’m just getting started. I had doubts, insecurities, and fears when launching but I started where I was and with what I had. I gained more clarity with each step I took. There’s a lot that goes into launching any successful business. I learned along the way as I did things myself from being my own brand strategist, web designer, model, photographer, etc. I’m still evolving and will always have a desire to learn.
One of my biggest challenges was defining my target audience. It’s important to understand your audience beyond gender and age. The more specific the better! I didn’t expect this to be an obstacle at all. I just thought it would come together naturally and I quickly realized I was wrong when I wasn’t making consistent sales.
I researched ways to attract ideal clients and effectively communicate with them in ways that resonate. I discovered what audience I was serving and what problem I was solving. I created a buyer persona and I keep this in mind with every action I take in my business from purchasing inventory to creating content. This has been the key for me to make consistent sales and grow my business.
An example of my target audience is a millennial woman, around the ages of 25-40. These women may be mothers, wives, and/or full-time employees or business owners who are into fashion and enjoy embracing their feminine energy. These ladies have similar habits, likes/dislikes, and behaviors.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
One thing for sure is I love helping people, more specifically women. My vision is to build a community of like-minded, stylish ladies who are leaders and influencers working together to advance society. We may be moms, wives, and/or bosses but each aspect of our lives is carried out in style. I believe being a lady is a matter of how you carry yourself with style and poise in your dress and lifestyle.
I launched Lady Lee’s Boutique in September of 2021 with this vision in mind. My brand gives me a greater purpose in life: to help and serve others.
Lady Lee’s Boutique is a brand curated for women who embrace their style and femininity through the freedom of fashion. We specialize in feeding women’s femininity and flair.
We are known for our effortless yet chic pieces that help women stand out, make lasting impressions, and exude confidence from the inside out.
I am most proud of our client satisfaction rate. Our clients are our top priority as they have a direct impact on the success of our business. I’ve poured my heart and soul into Lady Lee’s Boutique so it means a lot to see the vision come to life. That is the vision of women feeling more confident, sexy, and empowered as a result of embracing their style in our pieces. I’ve received such positive feedback which lets me know I’m doing the right thing and encourages me to go harder.
Our customer service sets us apart as we take our time to make recommendations, answer questions, and follow up. Assisting our clients before AND after purchase is what we do. We aim to give high-quality service to each and every customer because creating loyal customers is valuable to the business. Our goal is to create a sisterhood so we are not afraid to build relationships with our customers who drive our business. Together we are better!
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
We live in a technologically advanced world where the future is digital. The fashion industry is already experiencing and will continue to see a shift over time to e-commerce. Large and small businesses have shut down brick-and-mortar locations and created more of an online presence mainly through social media.
There are online dressing rooms, showrooms, and stylist which calls for a better at-home shopping experience. Businesses are also focusing more on low-cost, expedited shipping which contributes to this highly sought-after shift. Shoppers are taking advantage of the convenience and speed of online shopping. As a consumer myself, I appreciate the wider selection, better prices/deals, and ease online shopping has to offer.
I was strategic when deciding to launch an e-commerce business. There is a better future for buyers and retailers through the internet. I predict the fashion industry will continue to grow online as technology plays an increasingly significant role in the fashion industry.
