Rising Stars: Meet Lei “Bai Rose” White of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lei “Bai Rose” White.

Hi Lei “Bai Rose”, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story really begins long before I ever touched a mixer.
I come from a line of women who believed dessert wasn’t optional, it was a love language. In my family, sweets were the grand finale to every gathering: after Sunday service, at holiday dinners, at celebrations, or simply when loved ones walked through the door. My grandmothers and great-grandmothers created moments around the table, and although they are no longer with me, their spirit lives in every recipe I make.

My mother carried that legacy forward in her own way. When she lived in Austin, she was known as the Queen of Pound Cakes, and rightfully so. She baked with ease, intuition, and heart. Ironically, I never had the desire to bake. I was the one who loved licking the spoon and cleaning the bowl, but that was as far as my baking went.

Then something shifted.

A little over a year ago, I wanted a banana pudding pound cake for my birthday. I asked my mom to help me make it, not knowing that moment would change my life. After that cake, I found myself craving the flavors I grew up with: Tea Cakes, Bread Pudding, Peach Cobbler, Banana Pudding all those desserts that tasted like home. So I started making them.

My family and friends became my taste testers. Then I began bringing treats to work, and people instantly fell in love. Every compliment, every smile, every “who made this?” lit something inside me. It reminded me of the joy my grandmother, Cora Pearl White, carried when she cooked for others. I felt a piece of her returning to me, filling a void I had carried for years.

And just like that…a baker was born.

Today, baking is more than a skill…it is my connection to the women who shaped me. It’s my way of honoring them, loving people through food, and keeping our family traditions alive. I truly believe there’s no greater feeling than witnessing Love at First Bite, and I’m grateful that I get to share that love with every person who tastes something I create.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road definitely hasn’t been smooth, but every bump has shaped me.
When I started baking, it wasn’t part of a long-term plan it came from healing, grief, and reconnecting with my roots. So at first, I struggled with confidence. I wasn’t sure if people would truly love what I made or if I was just chasing nostalgia.

Then came the practical challenges: balancing a full-time job while baking late nights, learning new techniques, and funding everything out of pocket. There were moments when ingredients were expensive, when orders piled up, and when I questioned if I could really build something meaningful from my kitchen table.

Grief has been another quiet companion on this journey. Losing the women in my family, especially my grandmother, who was the heart of our traditions, left a hole that sometimes felt too heavy to carry. But baking brought her back to me in the most unexpected way. It gave me comfort, purpose, and a way to honor the legacy she left in my hands.

Transitioning from hobby baker to business owner came with its own learning curve: permits, pricing, packaging, time management, and trusting myself enough to say “Yes, I can do this.” There were days when the kitchen felt too small, when orders felt overwhelming, and when I had to push through exhaustion to meet deadlines.

But every challenge made me stronger.
Every setback made me more determined.
And every “This tastes just like my grandmother’s” reminded me why I started.

The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been meaningful. And I wouldn’t trade the growth, the lessons, or the love I’ve gained along the way.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At B|R Treats & Events, I specialize in creating nostalgic, soul-filled desserts with a modern, glamorous twist, especially my dipped treats, custom cakes, signature pound cakes, and cake cups. These four treats have become the pillars of my brand because they each allow me to express a different side of my creativity.

My dipped treats from strawberries and apples to full themed treat boxes — are known for their bold colors, shimmer, and polished finish. They’re elegant, playful, and always event-ready. People love that my treats look luxurious but still taste rich and homemade.

My custom cakes are where storytelling meets flavor. Every cake is designed with intention, whether it’s a birthday, baby shower, or themed celebration. I’m known for layers that are moist and flavorful, fillings that complement each bite, and designs that bring a client’s vision to life.

My pound cakes are the heart of my menu and the soul of my baking journey. Inspired by my mother, the Queen of Pound Cakes, these cakes honor my family’s legacy. They’re buttery, warm, and comforting from classic flavors to banana pudding, peach cobbler, and seasonal specialties. They remind people of home, but with a Bailei Rose twist.

And then there are my cake cups one of my most loved items.
They’re layered with cake, fillings, cream, and toppings to create the perfect grab-and-go dessert. They’re indulgent, convenient, and customizable, making them a hit at events, pop-ups, and everyday cravings. Every spoonful feels like a full slice of cake in a cup.

What sets me apart is the emotion, detail, and intention behind everything I make.
I don’t just bake I create experiences. My desserts are known for their consistent quality, bold flavor profiles, beautiful presentation, and the feeling they give people. I bake with love, tradition, and creativity, aiming to spark joy and deliver that unforgettable moment I call Love at First Bite.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to honor myself, my time, my creativity, and my value.
When I first started, I didn’t always feel confident charging what my work was worth or setting boundaries with people. I didn’t want to disappoint anyone. But I quickly learned that when you let people play with your time or your talent, you drain the joy out of your gift.
Now, I move with confidence. I respect my craft, my prices, and the love I pour into every dessert. That shift changed everything.
