Rising Stars: Meet Lori Wei of Keller/Southlake

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Wei.

Hi Lori, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I began floral design as a child. I grew up in a large church where all of the women worked together to make a wedding beautiful. My mother played a large roll in my education. I would help wire corsages and put together bouquets. I dreamed for years of becoming a florist and a wedding planner. I started college late in life at The Kings University in Southlake, TX. I began to do weddings for my fellow students. I learned so much and grew a floral event business as a way to earn extra money. It bloomed and once I was married I began to take on more events. In May of this year I was blessed to purchase Whispering Blooms. I now run a daily business as well as taking on events. I pour every bit of my heart into each design. This career is a true testimony to a dream coming true. I love what I do and the joy that it brings to others. It’s amazing to be able to have a passion for my career and to allow that to pour into my designs.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not always been a smooth road. I began my career as a single parent. I am completely self taught minus my experience with my church. My first wedding bouquet was a complete disaster. I sat watching YouTube tutorials to make it beautiful. I redid that bouquet four times. However, it turned out amazing in the end. I learned through mistakes and tons of hard work. I lost money from underquoting events. It was a tough learning curve. But in the end all of my brides had beautiful weddings and I learned so much. I feel more confident now. 15 years of work will do that for you. And I’m thankful for the experiences.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Design is my very favorite aspect of my career. I love taking the vision of others and bringing it to life. It can be something as simple as creating a piece for a lost loved one or cheering someone for an accomplishment in their career. I create thank you and birthday bouquets all with special touches. Bridal consultations are so much fun for me. I enjoy seeing their inspiration photos and designing exactly what they envisioned. It’s fun to choose just the right stems for each of their pieces. I really like being able to help my clients decide exactly what to purchase and how to put it all together. All in all customer service and relationship is what sets me apart. I listen and do my best to create exactly what they envision.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Above all I have a God centered business. I have been abundantly blessed in what I do. And I give the most credit to my faith and my Savior Jesus Christ. I also feel that it is so important to take the time to listen to your client. That is the heart of my business. The customer and an excellence in customer experience.
