Rising Stars: Meet Maithen Elizabeth of Denton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maithen Elizabeth.

Hi Maithen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Maithen Elizabeth, and I have been chasing my passion for being a full-time artist and painter since I was a very small girl growing up in southern Oklahoma. In fact, one of my earliest memories is of me sitting at my grandmother’s (my mom’s mother) kitchen table to paint. She was an artist, too – unlike me, she mainly focused on crafting and Christmas decorations. But she loved every bit of it, and the focus was always on having fun. As we sat there, she’d always say, “Have Fun!”

That’s a belief I have held onto all these years, and that positive outlook on life shows in all the many custom pieces I’ve created for my residential and commercial clients. I am blessed to have an artist lineage, as BOTH my grandmothers and my beautiful mom not only helped teach me but also encouraged me to chase my dreams, appreciate all forms of art, and explore the many ways art can move us emotionally and spiritually. Like me, they believed this world could never have too much art and beauty … and if you can spread a little extra sunshine, you should do it!

I sold my first painting in 2012 and three years later began focusing on creating custom pieces for residents, businesses across many industries, and charitable organizations. I created my LLC in 2017 and for the past eight years, I have been “Painting The World Beautiful!” I’ve been married for 10 years this November, and my husband, Neal, is my rock when it comes to life and the pursuit of my dreams. He has encouraged and pushed me to go into business for myself and introduced me to many wonderful people along the way.

Bottom line: I want to paint your world beautiful. Many of my original works can be seen at a variety of well-known establishments throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area and beyond. This includes Combs Coffee in Denton, and Leigh Hilton in Aubrey, Bartonville, and Denton. Most recently, I have enjoyed having my artwork showcased at The Lewisville Chamber. My pieces have also sold in The French Quarter in Louisiana.

If you’ve been looking for an artist willing to sit with you and create a work of art that speaks to you and your business, Custom Art by Maithen Elizabeth is here to help. I enjoy each step of the creative process and growing happy clientele along the way.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’m very grateful to have such an amazing support system around me. My husband Neal is wonderful at encouraging me to follow my dreams, and “Paint The World Beautiful!”

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I focus on a variety of artwork including: Abstract, Biblical, Emotional, Geode Artwork & River Tables.
My favorite would have to be my Geode Pieces.

Without getting too deep into a geology lesson, geodes are essentially hollow, circular rock formations that can form in almost any cavity. If you were to split one in half, you would see bands of colorful crystals, quartz, minerals, and very detailed lines that would make any heart for beauty melt. Geode artwork is an abstract version of art that can bring those same elements from the physical rock to life on a simple canvass, piece of wood, or in free form.

Geode artwork is one of my favorite projects to work on at Custom Art by Maithen Elizabeth. I use different forms of mixed media (crystals, rocks, glitter, and various textures) to create a sleek and elegant custom piece that can spice up any living room, dining room, bedroom, or bathroom.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
When you open your own business, you take a risk. According to 2024 data from the BLS 20% of new businesses fail within a year & 50% of new businesses fail at 5 years. Custom Art By Maithen Elizabeth has been blessed enough to be open for 8 years and counting. My advice for new artists, follow your dreams, but have someone in your corner that can create a business plan and budget for you. A business is like a baby, unexpected expenses will arise. If you are prepared, it won’t be an issue.

Pricing:

  • artwork range from $75.00
  • up to $5,000.00
  • It really just depends which style,
  • how large & which medium.
