Rising Stars: Meet Mansi Aggarwal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mansi Aggarwal.

Hi Mansi, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It all started when I was 10 years old. I grew up in India. I use to visit my grandparents who lived in village during summer vacation. We would see people working in the fields for my family farms. They will make some coffee/tea in pit made with stones and mud. They will burn wood and keep the fire running. Those partial burnt wood will work as a pen for me and I would draw on whatever I see. Next thing I know my parents got me hooked with some watercolors and paper. I kept myself engaged in art and would try to keep learning new techniques. It was few years earlier when I started this more professional. I was teaching my kids to paint when it struck me to take this professional. I kept experimenting with different techniques and mediums to discover what came to me naturally was Resin and acrylic art. My love for jewelry directed me to use some of those beautiful gems and stones in my work. The result is what we have now.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a roller coaster ride. However, I always appreciate the support and love I have received from the art-lovers community. Sourcing the raw material is always a challenge and struggle. I am always in search of new gems and colors. Sometimes I have to source them from all corners of the world. The hunger of creating something new every time is always a challenge. My work is based on various patterns you see around the nature. Those can be inspired from minor cracks on the ground to big mountains to vivid cloud formations the sky.

The nature is the best teacher. As its rightly said, “the beauty lies in the eye of the beholder”. This also applies to my work as well. Capturing those on the canvas is always another stretch to perfection.

I feel like once you stop challenging yourself you stop growing and learning. Life at stand still makes one complacent. To be creative you should be ready to accept struggles and make them in the wonders.

One of the biggest struggles just like other Mom artists is juggling kids, home, and work all at once. This puts lot of pressure. As you know lot of events for Art happen during the weekend. That’s the time to bond with the family and it takes lot of effort and sacrifice to manage that.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Resin Artist. I work with gems, pigments, glitters, and Resin to create those masterpieces. It could be on a canvas or wooden frame or it could be on a cheese board with coordinating coaster sets. I don’t restrict myself just to wall art and addition I also create beautiful functional artwork which includes Trays, Cheese boards, and Coasters. I feel art in any shape or form will bring beauty to its surrounding. I think my love for Jewels puts apart as I tend to use them a lot. I like to make my pieces as part of celebration. They should bring joy and celebrations to the area they are installed.

In addition, as I am a self-taught artist, I feel I hold no boundaries for my work. I am ready to use different mediums and different things to create something new which captures my vision.

I got where I am today due to constant urge to create something new. There is so much out there yet to be captured. My hunger to create something new is always a driver for me.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was always on the creative side. My creative side will include making new types of food recipes or decorating the house or painting. I grew up with 2 other siblings – brother and sister. It was always those fun with them. I am being foodie. I love cooking and then eating. I always like to travel and explore new places. I always like to connect with new and old friends and get to learn something about them. We had a big family while growing up and lot of kids. So, we always had some kind of celebrations going on from birthday parties to weddings to anniversary celebrations. I think I still relate to those and like to reflect that in my work even today. I am a Dietician by education. I think that reflects in my cooking and love for celebrations resonates in my work for art.

I got where I am today by having fun in what I do. However, I do get burn out and then I know it’s time for me to take a break and enjoy. As it’s said when life throws lemon at you, you make lemonade.

I enjoy getting connected on social networks and keep my followers engaged in what I am up to and how’s things are in studio.
