Today we’d like to introduce you to Mari Weldon.
Hi Mari, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Looking into my parent’s mirror above their dresser is first time recall seeing “people” or spirits, at age four. I tapped on the glass and the lady inside the mirror approached me, stating I could not cross the glass barrier. She was dressed in a long black skirt and high neck white blouse, her hair coifed differently from the late 1960s I grew up in.
In kindergarten, my friend Anne asked to go to the bathroom. I asked Anne to ask the lady in the mirror in the bathroom at school if I could Borrow her brush, as we were back in class from recess and my hair was sweaty and matted. My friend Anne looked at me like I was crazy! I figured out immediately that not everyone else could see spirits. That was the end of speaking about it for a long time. In first grade, spirits began to appear around me outside of the barrier of mirrors.
After a four-year scary experience with a very dark energy attached to me, I was able to shake it off and regain confidence and self-empowerment.
Watching my mom who was a professional artist, teach painting classes in our home… the colors she would squeeze out of the oil paint tubes was so vibrant and had a life of their own. Realized later on as an adult I have synesthesia… when one sense is turned on, the other senses turn on as well. When listening to music I see colors ebbing and flowing in front of my physical eyes, depending on the tempo, the beat, the sadness or joy of the sounds in the song being played.
All colors are “alive”… they have feeling and a palpable pulse…and I thought everyone experienced seeing colors and hearing music The same.
I continued to be visited by spirits, who wanted me to give their living loved one’s messages. At first, I thought spirits were bad people who died because when they appeared their faces looked stern, they did not move their mouths when they spoke. I only heard their words in my mind. Over time realized they just can’t move their mouths.
My beloved Grandmother was an artist too, she painted a huge mural of the beach around all four walls of her garage. She also painted in oils, beach scenes, and animals.
She would give me butcher paper to draw on with colored pencils as she painted on canvas. She handed me a National Geographic Magazine and asked me to draw the Ocelot wild cat on the paper. I studied the image thoroughly then drew what I saw, and the outcome was spot on.
In 1986, graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art and worked as an Artist for many years, however, the recession at the time was extremely hard for artists to make a living. Went back to college and graduated with. Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing. I worked as a Trauma RN for many years.
The patients we received were in critical condition., 65% of them did not survive. I worked at a huge county hospital in Dallas, in their trauma ICU. We received and cared for patients with gunshot wounds, stab wounds, blunt force trauma, massive car crashes, motorcycle crashes, any and all critical injuries. The patients’ bodies were kept alive on life support… ventilators, IV drips, ECMO, etc.
Working in the Trauma ICU is when I understood in a profound way, that the soul lives separately from the human body.
One example is my critical patient’s heart rhythm went into a lethal arrhythmia, then stopped. I called code blue, threw a backboard under my patient’s chest, with help, and jumped on the bed and started compressions… as I was giving my patient compressions…I looked up and saw spirits of dogs and people descend over my head…then I literally saw my patient’s soul rise up out of his body, hug all the spirits there for him, and ascend up thru the ceiling! I kept giving compressions and our code team was able to establish a regular heart rhythm and stabilize the patient. I knew my patient was not coming back; however, we were able to keep his body alive.
None of the other RNs or Drs. commented nor looked up to see the souls present nor witness my patient’s soul leave his body. The family for that patient came to visit him, and because his body was being kept alive by life support, they truly believed he would eventually wake up and be discharged home. It is unethical and Immoral to ever comment on spirituality or religion to any patient, or their families. I kept my mouth shut. That patient eventually passed on.
Several other times I witnessed my patient’s soul rise up and that soul turned and looked right at me! Then snapped back into their body. Those patients DID eventually wake up and I would ask them what they experienced… BOTH of them stated they saw me looking right at them as they rose up. They described what they saw and experienced and it was quite beautiful and peaceful.
Because of the intensity of working as a trauma nurse, I had to stop focusing on spirits all around me so I could successfully function and focus better as an RN. I still saw spirits or energies; I just didn’t address them.
Because of a severe back injury, I had to retire nursing. And I wanted to focus on working as a successful artist again. As I dove back into the art world, my most loved and passionate work…spirits started bombarding me again and I could no longer ignore them. I used to take photos of them in our backyard and driveway…literally thousands of souls/orbs in each photo! And ALL of them wanting me to deliver messages to their loved ones still in the physical world. This still happens today and can be quite maddening. I stay away from large public places, like malls and movie theaters, and grocery stores during the daytime hours.
Missing working as an RN and helping people in their most critical life moments, I wanted to help people in a different and more meaningful way but needed a mentor to help me transition into a new role as a messenger or channel, or voice for the spirit world and other dimensions.
Many years later I found a mentor to help me bring my abilities back full bloom, Dr, Chuck Murphy.
He suggested I read the two books by Dr. Michael Newton, “Journey of Souls” and “Destiny of Souls”. Those two books blew me away and found such validation for all I saw as an RN. He documented case studies of patients who had died then came back to life.
Dr, Chuck Murphy is famous/well known as being one of the very best, top psychic mediums in the whole country. He is an exceptionally sensitive channel, medium, and teacher, mentor, and friend. I graduated all three of his courses…Zero-to-Psychic, Mediumship 1 and Mediumship 2. And after him answering a billion questions, I felt more confident to begin reading for people full time.
After about six months of his guidance and counsel, I mentioned to Chuck I’m a professional artist…Chuck said… ”Draw what you see for people during readings”…and that’s how I’ve answered this calling. For the last ten years. I’ve read for people doing just that.
A client schedules a reading with me, either through my website…PsychicMari.com, or contacting me directly. Either remotely through video or in person, I draw all the souls gathered around the client, sketch them as fast as I can, and relay their messages out loud. Souls do not move their mouths, sometimes they will show me images in my mind’s eye and I’ll draw those images and talk about them…sometimes I’ll hear a name, or details about their past to help identify who they are. most of the time I get personalities and talk about that out loud to identify who the soul is.
Readings are a myriad of images, sounds, memories, smells, textures, and me drawing as fast as I can. Almost always see and experience the clients’ pets who has crossed over first. Communicating with animals/pets’ souls is my very favorite kind of reading as pets have the most pure unconditional love ever! Almost always make people cry when their pets come through, not intentionally.
When the reading is finished the client keeps the sketch.
I also take commissions to render a person’s Spirit Guide and Animal Spirit Guides. These portraits take many many months to complete as I’m at the mercy of the guide, when and for how long they will manifest for me to capture their image down on paper or canvas. I work in watercolors, graphite, oil paint on canvas, acrylics on canvas, and colored pencils. I also sculpt as well. In the past ten years, I’ve illustrated four books, sold many large oil paintings, completed two very large outdoor murals, designed logos, and website artwork, and all kinds of other art projects.
Am still an active member of Dr. Chuck Murphy’s Crossings Paranormal Group” where we received cases and investigate what souls are haunting a house. I’ve been a member since 2015. I privately do house clearings and blessings and drive to people’s homes to give readings for individuals and groups of people.
I read for people all over the world via FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, and Google Duo. I’ve read for a Dr. in Pakistan, a lady in London England, Canada, and people in many other countries. Have assisted with finding missing persons in Austria, Switzerland, and in the US.
Working in Psychic Fairs and metaphysical/spiritual events throughout the DFW area has been a godsend as working around other mediums …I’ve found like-minded people who are now beloved friends; it’s wonderful to be able to talk to another person who understands in a profound way what it’s like answering this calling, what it’s like seeing energies/spirits everywhere you go.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Finding like-minded people who also see and communicate with energies/spirits was difficult until I reached out to Dr. Chuck Murphy. He introduced me to the metaphysical community here in the DFW area. It’s a large family and we all support one another.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I grew up in a small town on the gulf coast, very close to Crystal beach.
