Today we’d like to introduce you to Marissa Rangel.
Hi Marissa, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been fond of cake decorating, and I would constantly watch them for years just because they were relaxing to me. I tried making my first vintage cake, and I realized how much I enjoyed making it. Then came the thought, “I’m a stay-at-home mother; why don’t I just start my own bakery from home?”.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
For the most part, it’s been smooth. I am working on time management as I have a toddler and need to give him my time and attention as well.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in Vintage/Lambeth cakes. I think I am most proud of just freestyling my cakes. I don’t always necessarily have anything drawn out or even a vision in my head for what I want it to look like. I feel like what sets my cakes apart from others is that I don’t replicate others’ work, and like I said, I freestyle my cakes. Of course, if a client gives me a vision, I’ll try my best to execute that vision but if I have creative freedom, I’ll just enjoy taking time with the decorative process.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the diversity and the realness of the people of Dallas. I think what I like least is the weather and crazy drivers.
