Rising Stars: Meet Marius Malarme of Paris

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marius Malarme.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I discovered the world of massage at a very young age.
As the son of a mother who was the director of a massage school and a father who is an osteopath, I grew up in an environment where the body and well-being were part of everyday life. This immersion naturally nurtured my passion and shaped my view of massage as a true art of care.

At 18, I decided to travel abroad to further refine my skills. My journeys, particularly to Canada, Asia, and India, deeply enriched my practice. I developed a new sensitivity and learned a wide range of techniques — from Shiatsu and Thai massage to Ayurvedic treatments, deep tissue, and neuro-muscular approaches — allowing me today to offer precise, fully customized treatments.

Upon returning to Paris, I joined several prestigious Parisian palaces and iconic spas, where I worked as a massage therapist, trainer, and treatment creator. Over several years, I notably contributed to the development of sports massage protocols that became recognized signatures.

Alongside my clinical practice, I am also deeply committed to training and transmission. I currently teach in several massage schools across Paris, Nice, Cannes, and Martinique, supporting the next generation of practitioners in developing both technical excellence and professional rigor.

I also run my own private massage practice in Paris, where I welcome a diverse and demanding clientele seeking bespoke treatments that combine performance, recovery, and deep relaxation.

Alongside my professional career, I committed myself to massage championships, a demanding experience that reflects my approach to the profession. I became French Champion in 2022, then European Champion in 2025, and I am currently preparing to represent my expertise at the World Massage Championship in 2026

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a man in the spa industry was my first real challenge. Some clients refused treatments, and many doors remained closed at the beginning. I faced numerous rejections before being able to enter spas, which forced me early on to find alternative ways to exist and grow in this profession.

Very quickly, I understood that in order to work consistently and be kept on by spas, I had to build client loyalty. In this environment, client demand is decisive. I had to earn trust session after session, so that clients would ask for me again and give establishments strong reasons to keep me.

To secure a lasting place in this profession, I had to develop skills beyond hands-on massage. Naturally discreet and reserved, becoming a trainer was a real challenge. Speaking in front of groups and transmitting my knowledge pushed me far outside my comfort zone, and over time became a core part of my professional identity.

At the same time, I committed myself to massage championships, an extremely demanding journey. Preparation required total dedication. I often turned down massage sessions in order to train, with no guarantee of results. This risky choice ultimately paid off and significantly strengthened my credibility.

I also had to learn how to put myself forward: communicating about my work, giving interviews, developing a presence on social media, and learning how to sell my craft—none of which came naturally to me.

The early years were physically and mentally intense. I worked in spas under sometimes difficult conditions, performing up to seven massages a day, six to seven days a week, simply to make a living. I quickly realized that being a massage therapist also meant being a trainer, protocol creator, and communicator.

Four years ago, a broken thumb forced a sudden pause and deep reconsideration of my path. Through patience and careful rehabilitation, I was able to return with greater awareness, precision, and sustainability in my practice.

These challenges shaped my journey and became strengths, now feeding both my work and the way I transmit my knowledge to future practitioners.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a massage therapist, massage teacher, and treatment creator.
I’m specialized in sport and wellness massage.

What I am most proud of is having built my place in this demanding field without ever giving up but I am especially proud to work at the Ritz spa, which represents, to me, the most beautiful Parisian palace and a major recognition of my professional journey.

What sets me apart first and foremost is being born into a family where massage is deeply rooted — it is truly in my blood. I then did everything possible to succeed in this profession: continuous training, international experience, teaching, and competitions, ultimately becoming European Massage Champion. This combination of heritage, hard work, and high standards shapes my approach today.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
There are several ways to work with me, collaborate, or support my activity.

I offer private massage sessions at my Paris practice for clients looking for personalized treatments focused on performance, recovery, and relaxation.

I also collaborate with hotels, spas, and wellness brands, particularly in the creation of treatment protocols and staff training.

I work as a trainer for various massage schools, in France and internationally, where I share hands-on experience and practical skills to help practitioners professionalize their careers.

Finally, I develop collaborations on social media with brands and venues, and people can support my work by following my activity and sharing my content.
