Today we’d like to introduce you to Maymee Witcher.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It all started during my junior year of high school. I needed an extra credit class, and one of the options was Floral Design at the Arlington ISD Dan Dipert Career and Technical Center. My mom had previously worked for a wedding florist, so I thought it would be something fun and different to try. I had no idea how much I would fall in love with floral design and that it would define my career path.
That first year, I earned my Level 1 certification through the Texas State Florists’ Association. As a senior, I was accepted into the Floral Practicum program, where I interned at Beverly’s Florist in Arlington. Working alongside experienced florists gave me hands-on experience and confirmed that this was the career I wanted to pursue.
One of my favorite accomplishments during high school was competing in the Tarrant County Fair, where I won first place for a faux floral arrangement. Even after graduating in 2023, I have stayed in touch with my floral teacher, who continues to be an incredible mentor and supporter.
I began building my own floral business in 2024 and officially launched it in 2025. Around the same time, I designed flowers for my very first wedding. By the end of that year, I had completed five events, including three weddings. Every event helped build my confidence and passion for the industry.
Along the way, I’ve also worked at Sugar Bee Sweets for the past three years. Being part of a business that is so involved in weddings has given me valuable insight into the wedding industry and helped me build relationships that support my own business. Being mentored by women who own local small businesses also shape my career journey in ways that are practical and encouraging.
This year has been focused on learning the business side of entrepreneurship. While 2026 has brought new challenges, it has also brought tremendous growth. I’m excited to continue creating meaningful floral designs and helping couples celebrate some of the most important moments of their lives.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not a smooth road. My struggles have been the technological side of the business. For example, I recently launched my website and that took several months, and a lot more detail than I thought.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a DFW florist, specializing in wedding and events, but I also love to do day to day arrangements to make any day special. I’m most proud of my new business, of course, but also the progress I’ve made and to know I can and am currently achieving. What sets me apart from the big corporation florist is I do not go through a flower line where there are pre set designs and prices. Creating a boutique experience, I like to make all my arrangements custom or come up with my own original designs that reflect both my style and the customer’s ideas.
How do you think about happiness?
When everything comes together, and you see the result of the hours of labor, I love seeing the full event vision come together and being part of a team of creatives.
