Hi MaZing, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in Boston where I developed my love for music and art. As a kid I played the jimbe drum, piano and violin. I even was a part of my church and school choir. At the age of 17 I started recording in the studio and developing as a recording and performing artist. In 2020 I moved to Dallas for an opportunity to pursue my dream in a different market and have grown to love the community that exists here. Music has given me the chance to tour a ton in 2024 and touch people all over the world.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been smooth at all honestly. There have been challenges at every turn in the road. From battling self doubt and negative self talk to changing the people I spend time around, I’ve had to make changes to truly pursue my goals and make them a reality. Now I have the confidence that regardless of anything that tries to stop me, I will find a way to figure things out and make it as I see through my vision
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a vocal performer carving my lane in the genre of ‘psychedelic cloud rap’ as I call it. It’s an infusion of Hip Hop, Bedroom Pop, and Raggae/Afro beats.
I’m most proud that I have an identity and foundation that I stand on in music that connects to my roots. I stay true to who I am always remembering where I came from.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned on this journey is to stay disciplined first and foremost. Secondly, I would say I’ve truly learned the power of self belief, self confidence and positive self talk. Whatever you choose to tell yourself, you’re right and you’ll believe it, positive or negative. That’s why it’s so important to speak well to yourself and channel positive energy.
