Today we’d like to introduce you to Meaghan Cody.
Hi Meaghan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I joined Sweet Pea Events in 2010 and immediately knew I’d found my place in the wedding world. I spent years learning the business from the inside out and fell in love with creating events that feel intentional, personal, and beautifully executed. In 2018, I purchased the company, and since then I’ve focused on elevating our design, streamlining our planning process, and building strong relationships with clients and creative partners. It’s been an incredible journey, and I still feel lucky every day to do what I love.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Taking over the company in 2018 was exciting, but it was also overwhelming at times – suddenly every decision rested on me, and I felt the weight of wanting to honor the brand while also making it my own.
And of course, the pandemic was one of the hardest seasons of my career. Navigating postponements, having tough conversations with couples who were heartbroken, and watching our industry come to a standstill was emotionally exhausting. There were days when I questioned how we would come out on the other side.
But those challenges changed me. They made me a more compassionate planner, a stronger leader, and someone who deeply values the relationships we build with our clients and creative partners. Every struggle taught me resilience and reminded me why I love this work – celebrating our clients and community, even in the hardest moments
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Sweet Pea Events, we create weddings and celebrations that feel intentional, personal, and effortless for our couples. We specialize in full-service planning and design, helping clients bring their vision to life while managing all the behind-the-scenes details that make an event run smoothly.
I’m proud that we’re known for our thoughtful approach – from designing meaningful experiences to fostering strong relationships with our clients and vendors. What sets us apart is our focus on both creativity and care: we never lose sight of the people at the center of every event, and we make sure they feel supported, seen, and celebrated every step of the way.
For me, the most rewarding part is seeing couples truly enjoy their day, knowing we handled the logistics and details so they can be fully present with their loved ones.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I’ve had so many people help me get here – starting with Kelly Simants, the founder of Sweet Pea Events, who took a chance on a 21-year-old me, welcomed me into her life, and years later sold me the company. Honestly, that was the greatest gift I could’ve asked for… and probably the riskiest!
My friends and family deserve credit too, for listening to endless stories about lost linens, crazy weather, and last-minute chaos – and somehow still cheering me on. And I can’t forget my clients, many of whom I stay in touch with long after their weddings. Those relationships are what make all the craziness worth it.
