Rising Stars: Meet Meeya Clay of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meeya Clay.

Hi Meeya, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello, my name is Meeya’ Aranique. I am an aspiring book content enthusiast of all books and reading backgrounds. And I love to create a space for people to come and speak to me about their books and their love for fiction. Growing up, I was a military brat and constantly moving from state to state, and with that, I was a bit of a troublemaker, and often I had problems making connections to people, even to make friends. So, I frequently formed connections with paperback characters and found myself being understood in fiction in a way reality never allowed me to be understood. So, I read throughout most of my life; however, there were moments when I did let other things affect my continuation of reading throughout my life. I want to create an environment where people don’t feel intimidated or humiliated to be into books and find themselves maybe giggling or crying within books because books create a space of vulnerability that we so often crave, but shy away from, because we sometimes are programmed to always expect judgment instead of value. Books create an opening for you to value your thoughts and opinions, above all, they offer you understanding. Even when you don’t always agree with the direction the author might have taken, or why a charter is written to be crass or cruel, or why a relationship didn’t go in the path you for saw or why friends betrayed a charter you always have understanding by time you complete the book even if you do not always agree. So, this is my story, and these are my goals for people of all backgrounds who read.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Most of my challenges deal with my looks because it is often not many women of my race who are the front for reading books. A lot of times growing up, I would be teased for the way I spoke or even the words that I used when speaking to adults or even my peers. And it would be perceived as me trying to “appear” that I was better than someone, and that was never once my goal, and I never understood what the problem was with me being who I am. And now that I am older, it’s hard to be in spaces that aren’t always open for me to stand in. With social media constantly evolving and things constantly being trendy and monitored in a sense, it’s also difficult to find the right videos or engaging content that people of all kinds will relate to because it’s so easy to kind of be categorized for one thing and when you would like to branch off and do other things it can be extremely hard to be seen in that light so I think I am just trying to find the balance of being young and into many different things outside of just books and just finding my footing within social media how to get the views the followers the consistency and above all just making sure I remain myself authentically through and through.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a content creator who loves diving into stories and sharing that passion with others. Through my videos and posts, I offer honest, thoughtful reviews of books that move me-Wheater they make me cry, laugh, or stay up way too late reading. I talk about characters I love (and love to hate), plot twists I didn’t see coming, and the kind of writing that lingers in your mind long after the last page. I record and share my reactions, reflections, and recommendations across platforms, hoping to connect with fellow readers and uplift the authors whose work deserves to be seen. My goal is to create a cozy, honest, and welcoming space where people can fall in love with books all over again, one story at a time.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
