Hi Melina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My photography journey began in 2013, capturing magical moments at the happiest place on earth—Disneyland. What started as a love for candid, lifestyle photography quickly turned into a passion I couldn’t ignore. With the support and encouragement of my family and now husband, I began offering outdoor family sessions, creating lasting memories for others just as I had treasured my own.
Over the years, I’ve had the joy of photographing weddings, quinceañeras, and special events—each one a unique celebration of love and life.
Four years ago, my family and I moved to Dallas, Texas. While the transition brought its own challenges, especially with the number of talented photographers in North Texas, I’m excited to relaunch my business and connect with new families and clients in the area. I believe that every moment, big or small, deserves to be beautifully documented—and I’m here to do just that.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Restarting my photography journey in North Texas hasn’t been easy. As a mom to two amazing boys, life is always moving—and between parenting, a full-time job, and everything in between, finding time to focus on my creative passion has been a challenge. On top of that, North Texas is home to so many talented photographers, which can make it feel a little daunting to find my place again.
But even with the hurdles, I haven’t let go of this dream. Photography has always been a source of joy and fulfilment for me. And whether it’s one session at a time or small steps forward, I’m committed to rebuilding, growing, and doing what I love—capturing beautiful moments for families just like mine.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialise in natural light photography with a focus on outdoor family sessions that capture real, candid moments. My style leans toward lifestyle photography—genuine smiles, unposed laughter, and the sweet in-between moments that make your family unique. I also offer event coverage, including weddings, quinceañeras, and special celebrations, with an emphasis on storytelling and emotion.
What sets me apart isn’t just my experience, but the heart I bring to every session. As a mom, I know how fast time flies and how important it is to capture the little moments that matter most. My journey started with a love for storytelling through candid, natural photos, and that same love still drives me today. I strive to make every session relaxed, fun, and genuine—whether I’m photographing a family, a wedding, or a milestone event. I don’t just take photos; I aim to create memories that feel authentic, warm, and timeless.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
When I’m not behind the camera, I’m usually creating in some other way—I love to cook, crochet, and flip old furniture into something fresh and beautiful. During the COVID pause in my photography business, I even started a small tie-dye shirt shop called Let’s Dye It! Creativity has always been a huge part of who I am, and I think that love for making things beautiful naturally flows into my photography
