Rising Stars: Meet Miyleen Breaux

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miyleen Breaux.

Hi Miyleen, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Have you ever heard the saying “I did not find it, it found me?” Well, when it comes to my modeling and acting journey, I strongly feel that applies to me. Most would say I started “late” in this industry because of my age even though I am not that old. It never was a desire of mine as a child or teenager. Growing up I was asked often if I modeled and when I responded with ‘No” then the follow-up would be “you should” or something along those lines. So, I did just that but my “why” was different, I am a single mom to four beautiful children and each pregnancy I would put on 50 – 60lbs. Pure misery lol. The guys I dated and the man I married cheated on me and I did not feel beautiful because of that. Even if someone would compliment me, I did not feel it internally. Less than a year after having my youngest son I decided to get into modeling to gain back my self-confidence. I was not your typical skinny framed model and then on top of that, I am only 5’3, completely against “model type” at that time but now that “type” has become freer in this industry which I love because there is beauty in everyone. For about two years I was really walking in my modeling career but as a single mom during a pandemic, it was a challenge and on top of that, I allowed others’ perspectives to weigh more than my true desires so I stopped cold turkey. As of today, I have decided to put others’ words about me in the grave and walk in what I feel is a God-giving gift.

“Never let other people’s opinion of you determine your destiny” – Les Brown

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road. As I mentioned I am a single mom, meaning it’s just me and them. So, when it comes to my modeling and acting, I have to turn down several opportunities because I don’t have the leisure to just up and go like some may have, on top of working full-time. Then, as much positive feedback and opportunities I would get, there was someone who constantly doubt me and counted me out, that person was me. That fight internally made it even harder because it became easier to fall back when adversity came my way. But once I gained that self-confidence and self-awareness than it became more meaningful to me. I still may come across road blocks but it does not stop me, they may challenge me but it causes me to grow.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a model and actress here in the Dallas, Texas area, (for now :D). I am proud that I did not allow myself to stay stuck in a rut but was able to pull myself out of that place and get back to what I love and enjoy doing, walking in my purpose. I think who I am naturally is what sets me apart from others because being naturally you are the ultimate secret; you attract more of what you want in life when you accept how and who God made you be naturally.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
There is a quote that Denzel Washington says “luck is when an opportunity comes along and you’re prepared for it.” On this journey, I believe that wholeheartedly because there are times when things fall in my lap “luck” and I am prepared, and other times when I missed out because I wasn’t. Overall, I feel “luck” has been on my side.
