Today we’d like to introduce you to Monique Young.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2020 when everything shut down due to COVID, I was looking for a way to still hold on to the small pleasures of life like getting my hair, nails & lashes done. After doing some research & finding a few Facebook groups online I was able to find other women who started doing their nails at home during the pandemic.
After a bit of a learning curve, tons of YouTube videos & practicing I started to get pretty good at it & even had a tribe of girls who also loved doing their nails with me.
I wanted to dive more into it, so I started creating my own custom nail dip powders for other at-home nail enthusiasts. So, Dipping Cute was born with a mission to provide fun, vibrate colors to anyone who wants to get salon-quality results at home for a fraction of the cost.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Every new venture has its challenges. I had a lot to learn about sales, social media, and photography. The idea and concept was smooth but implementation was hard. Staying focused finding supplies during COVID & keeping the creative ideas coming was hard. I’ve been super blessed to have such supportive friends to cheer me on, hold me accountable, and encourage me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
When I’m not working on So Dipping Cute, I’m a Paralegal negotiating budgets and contracts in the medical research industry. I love my daytime job and the work-life balance it allows me to still go after my passions.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Perseverance, patience, and an ability to understand others
