Rising Stars: Meet Nicolas Marquez of Preston Hollow

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicolas Marquez.

Hi Nicolas, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The hair industry is a crazy place, I have always had the plans to start my own salon as soon as I started cosmetology school. That why my IG handle is “Not that blonde” I came up with NTB with the intention of opening a salon and possibly other business/brands. I have worked at a few different salons and during and after those experiences I want to make a space where clients have an amazing experience and everyone is welcomed.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well I’m not originally from Dallas, my fiancé and I moved from west Texas about 4 years ago and It took a awhile to get where I am today in my business moving from to a new area as a stylist is scary because you are starting from scratch. I had zero clients and only know about 2 people in Dallas prier to moving here. It was definitely not easy but worth it, I’ve worked long hours and stayed on top of my social media as well as implemented other ways to build a clientele. I have cultivated a space where everyone is welcome and I can help bring people’s inner beauty out and help people feel their best!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
so I’m a hairstylist and salon suite owner. I specialize in blondes and hair extensions, but I also do haircuts, Brazilians treatments, and a great blowout! I’m known for my attention to detail as well as make people blonde while keep the integrity and health of the hair intact.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
what I love best about Dallas is the food and culture. Coming from west Texas there isn’t a lot of different cultures around. So moving here was every exciting to learn and taste all that Dallas has to offer. Now what I like the least is the traffic why doesn’t anyone know how to drive here!!
