Rising Stars: Meet Nyia Roseman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nyia Roseman.

Hi Nyia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
F.A Essentials was launched in February of 2022 but I began this vision a year prior to launching. The F.A stands for Faith Alexandria, who is my daughter and when I think of “essentials”, it is a need and I needed my daughter. Bringing in the 5th generation, I knew my daughter needed something more, not only something to call her own but her kids and their kids, so I needed to start a family business. Plus, kids aren’t cheap and the extra income will help. There were multiple ideas to come to mind but God placed Galatians 5:22-23 on my heart, then the thought “how can I get the fruit of spirit in everyone’s home?” crossed my mind, so let’s make candles which everyone loves. The process didn’t happen overnight, and there was a tone of researching and testing before it was able to come together. Today we are selling products like hot cakes, going to multiple pop-up events, hosting our own pop event in August, and taking over Instagram and this is all because of my obedience/ faith in God.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Was this a smooth road? Man NO! As mentioned before there was a tone of research, testing, and let’s not forget self-doubt. Yes, I had plenty of support from all over as well as amazing examples, but I just knew I was making a mistake. When the candles weren’t burning long enough, they weren’t giving off the scent while burning or no one wanted to buy any, I really wanted to give up. I was once told, you have to spend money to make money, which was difficult because I barely had money. Also, let’s not forget this is my first time being an entrepreneur which added on more self-doubt which I had no clue what I was walking into. But I had to remember that this vision was from God and he wouldn’t put anything on me that I can’t bear. This business was not about me despite how I’m feeling nor the self-doubting thoughts, this is for my family. I was meant to set be an example for those who know me and those who don’t know me. So now we are here still learning, thriving, growing, and trusting God so we can have a solid foundation for our generations.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I make soy wax products such as candles and wax melts that are handmade. I love what I do, I love bringing my creativity into homes and sharing my story with others. There are parents who share the same story like mine that are doing what I’m doing, but this for those who aren’t doing it and know it is possible. As a black community, it is important, we leave our children and their children with a legacy.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Please visit my website with all of my products on there and I will be adding more to the site as well. Also, my Instagram has my pop-up event dates and my promotion announcements, and if you are having a pop-up event, please message me. Sharing is free, so please be sure to share!
