Today we’d like to introduce you to Oscar Sonora.
Hi Oscar, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Everything started with a kid and a dream of one day running his own geek store.
When that kid grew up, he didn’t have enough resources or the means to get started, but that didn’t stop him from continuing to dream. Eventually, he met the love of his life, and both decided to move to the US.
At first, it was a rough start for them, but together they kept working toward their dreams until they eventually decided to have faith and created what is now known as “Geek Covenant”. They didn’t know exactly how things would work or be managed, but they kept fighting, learning, and implementing new ways to stand out from other businesses in the same niche.
With all the effort and the purpose of keeping fighting for their dreams, Geek Covenant keeps growing and growing, building a great community and expanding their services and products to bring the best quality and experience to all the people, but especially to all those pop culture, anime, and video games fans out there.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been an easy road, starting with moving to another country with a different culture, socializing, and ways of doing things compared to where they came from. We do not have family, friends, or people we can count on, so loneliness was also something we had to go through.
Additionally, while we knew the language, it was, at first, one of the barriers we had to get used to in order to keep expressing ourselves and to share the message we wanted to convey to people. I would say money was also a struggle at first; however, we took the leap of faith and kept going with our projects.
One of the things we had to overcome was the fear of losing or failing to achieve the objectives, which is not always easy.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m really proud to work for PepsiCo because getting a job at a big company wasn’t easy, and I really had to put everything I had on the table to earn it.
I’m a Supply Planner for the Lipton, Brisk, and Pure Leaf brands. I make sure the bottlers have enough raw materials to keep producing the final product.
I would say my determination and patience are what set me apart from others. I don’t give up that easily, and I never back down from any situation.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is of my brother and me dressing up as the White Power Ranger and going to a party. We always loved dressing up as our favorite characters, and now, as adults, we do cosplay.
