Today we’d like to introduce you to Roxanne Cavazos.
Hi Roxanne, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always preferred nail polish to makeup. Ever since I can remember, I always spent my allowance on nail polish first, then makeup. Which is exactly why I started my blog. I just love talking about beauty products, reviewing them, and posting pictures of them. Then a year ago, I wanted something different. I no longer just wanted to post about beauty products. I decided to turn my beauty blog into more of a lifestyle blog. I now speak more on my psoriasis journey. I also post about anxiety and depression. I want my blog to be stigma-free, a judgment free zone. I noticed I started getting more views and more website visits. So, I figure I’m going in the right direction. There’s still beauty talk but there’s also discussions of everyday struggles.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
A smooth road? Absolutely not. There’s been bumps, curves, detours, some roadblocks, just like any other road or journey. Being open about my personal journey and struggles definitely makes people feel that they have the right to judge you and ridicule you. It can hurt, even if it’s just words, you’re reading, words do hurt. But you have to get through it and keep going. Either way, people will talk, if you’re doing good or bad, people will always have something negative to say. You just have to be stronger and have the will to push through any obstacle.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’ve always been known for my nails and my obsession with nail polish. But now, things are a bit different. I’ve been getting more involved with the National Psoriasis Foundation. This year I hope to get even more involved, to volunteer more, and hopefully become a mentor. I’ve already worked on some projects with them and I’ll be continuing that work this year.
As for as what I’m most proud of, I’m not sure. Not sure if I’ve reached that kind of level. I’d have to say as of now, I love connecting with people, knowing that I’ve helped them in some sort of way. Yeah, that’s what I’m most proud of, just knowing that I’m helping.
What sets me apart from others? I’m not sure on that one either. I think I just keep it real, I’m not fake, believe me, my facial expressions will always say the truth. Lol.
What do you think about happiness?
A lot of things make me happy. My cat, Katniss, gives me such joy, that little furball can always make me laugh, no matter what. My family, my besties, I have such a small inner circle and they support and hype me up constantly. But like I said, so many things bring me happiness. It can be an ice cream cone, or a particular song, even a random memory that will pop into my head… little things like that. It all sums up happiness to me,
