Rising Stars: Meet Sarah Webb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Webb.

Hi Sarah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I started at Paul Mitchel right after high school and after receiving my license in 2011, immediately started a year-long apprenticeship that included lots of hands on training in color, styling, and extensions. While I was there I developed a love for blow-dry and styling, so when I moved on I decided to try to focus on that side of the industry, having already noticed a growing demand for blowouts in Dallas. In 2012 I started working at a North Texas chain of blow-dry bars, and ended up going on to manage their Southlake location for about a year before I felt I needed to come back to Dallas. Not long after that I decided that was no longer a good work environment for me and I gave Drybar a shot! While I was there, I started freelancing weddings with friends and found myself loving bridal hairstyling. Since 2020 I’ve been exclusively a bridal hairstylist in DFW. I’ve always styled special occasion, but working on site at a wedding is a whole different atmosphere that I love!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road hasn’t been smooth, more like driving on Lemmon Ave or Henderson! I have had to walk away from high-paying salon/management jobs due to toxic work environments that are negative or unethical. Putting your mental health first and learning when you’ve had enough is not easy, but it’s the most important thing you can do for you.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an independent hairstylist that travels all over Dallas and surrounding counties. I focus on blowouts, special occasion, and event hairstyling. I’m known for giving bada** blowouts and big hair. I’m definitely most proud of my passion for what I do. I take pride in continuing my education and finding my balance between my personal and work life.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I was the kid that wouldn’t stop talking in class and constantly got distracted by either playing with my hair or my friends’ hair. My personality was and still is creative, I’ve always found myself drawn more towards arts. I knew I wanted to be a hairstylist since I was in middle school, before that I wanted to be an artist. So I became both of those things.
