Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanane Fleming.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Shanane Fleming, better known as Coach Shae. I am the owner of Dynamic Weight Loss & Wellness LLC. I am a Certified Life Coach with a concentration in mindfulness and fitness. I am a boy mom of 3 and an angel mom of a daughter. After experiencing this traumatic loss, I began to seek my purpose; I had to know my “why.” One day I decided that I was tired of being depressed, and I needed to find an outlet. I was scrolling Facebook and ran across an “I love Kickboxing” ad, and a 6-week challenge turned into a whole lifestyle. During the challenge, I learned so much about health and overall wellness I begin to think everyone should feel this good! I started with life coaching because this is something I was very natural in; then once I mastered my own goals with wellness, I added the fitness component and started training others.
My mission is to lead, educate, motivate, and inspire you to activate the person that you are becoming and seek to become. I help each client to identify then work together as a dynamic duo to tear down barriers and obtain results and boost confidence.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting any business definitely has its challenges, and it hasn’t been a smooth road but more so a learning experience. I had my first private studio in beautiful Downtown Dallas, and everything was going really well, but it was a few things I hadn’t analyzed about my business prior to opening like my peak seasons, my retention rates, and I didn’t have all the proper marketing strategies in place to drive continuous traffic. On top of all that my personal life was bleeding into my business life, I was having a very hard time finding my balance between the two, and after a year at the location, sadly, I had to close the doors.
I felt really defeated after having to close the doors, but no one talks about the months when you’re not able to pay the rent and you have your own personal bills. Most people won’t mention you may have to go back to work or continue working to fund your business. In the beginning of starting your business, you are literally the employee, the manager, the accountant, and sales agent. Not to mention staying up late nights, early mornings, and no days off. Overall, we live and learn from our mistakes and usually come back bigger, better from gaining knowledge from an experience.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have been in the medical field for 10 years, and I’ve had the pleasure of working in so many different areas. I have worked in lab research, psychiatry, sleep medicine, and endocrinology. Working with people has always been my thing. I’m a very social person which is what led me into Life Coaching and fitness. I’m known for my BIG energy, promoting health, and encouraging personal development. I am also the Co-host of Walk In His Ways Voice Impact Podcast, where I keep you updated on current event, news, and a hint of celebrity tea.
What sets me apart from others is my level of understanding and love for getting to know people. I’m not a counselor or a therapist, I don’t do any diagnosis on you or help treat mental illness, but a conversation with me can feel very therapeutic, relieving, and impactful. My resilience is the thing that I am most proud of. I have been through things in my life that most people probably would have given up, but one day, I decided I wanted to see what my life would look like if I never quit, so that is how I keep going.
What does success mean to you?
Most people define success by the amount of money you have, the clothes you wear, the car you drive, and even the house you live, but these are all material things. Although these items are a by product of success, it’s not the true success. The true success to me is how about how many people lives you impact on this journey called life. How can you be of resource of value to the world and to each other? Maya Angelou once said, ” I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” and that has always resonated with me.
